>most genius level people tend to act not much different then a computer
Hey....!
>It's almost like people have to give up something to get something else.
In a lot of cases that's true 'cos being a genius requires a lot of work. Even if you're a non-specialized intelligent person there's usually a lot of reading, studying and generally paying attention involved.
>but for all his smarts, he couldn't even grasp the concept of "taking a hint".
HAW! I know a lot of stupid people like that, too. Social interaction requires a lot of study, practice, etc. Which is why some folks who gain overall knowledge or specialized skills often have a lack of social efficacy: they spent the time others use interacting to learn something else.
>most people that I know who I think would score in the genius category on an IQ test tend to lack social skills and common sense.
I think most PEOPLE lack social skills and common sense, but we expect more from smart folks so it's more noticeable.
>Luckily, I'm a genious at both.
....er.... You misspelled “genius.”

When you think about it, most genius level people tend to act not much different then a computer ...
It's almost like people have to give up something to get something else.
I knew a dude once who was crazy smart ... like rocket scientist smart ... but for all his smarts, he couldn't even grasp the concept of "taking a hint".
You could slyly insult the guy right to his face and he'd never know you were doing it.Leave a comment:

Just from my own personal experience (and I realize I am making a generalization), most people that I know who I think would score in the genius category on an IQ test tend to lack social skills and common sense.Leave a comment:

My favourite actress is Mira Sorvino.
Apart from acting, she's also great at languages, including fluent Mandarin.
That was, she was able to converse with her co-star Chow Yun Fat in the Replacement Killers and help him on set.

I'd like to see English speakers act in another language, and see how they do. I remember even "The Greats" like Laurence Olivier attempt a Dutch accent (in Dracula), and fail miserably. That accent was hilarious, you could hardly make out the words.
Btw, very often people good at languages are bad at science, and vice versa. Luckily, I'm a genious at both. Hey, maybe I should take up acting?Leave a comment:

or they don't look at Ben as a celefrity since he was a famous "intellectual" before his stardom
for Lundgren they associate his on screen characters with his actual intelligence, which is almost as foolish as assuming someone who plays a Dr on tv can diagnose an illness but for some reason is totally acceptedLeave a comment:

Maybe they should all get together and build a spaceship or something.....I'm just saying is all.
I have heard before about Woods,Lundgren and tarantino being very smart.
I agree about Tarantino I think his mind is going so fast that he seems like a babling idiot but it is just that his mind is racing.
Lundgren is just type casted as a dufus all the time and that stigma has just followed him.
Woods is a genious.Leave a comment:

People who speak English with a thick accent (from America's point of view) are usually perceived to be unintelligent -- unless they're German ... In a German's case they are usually perceived to be super-intelligent.... Dolf is the ecception to the rule.
Why ?
I'm guessing it's the norm for TV and movies so most people just pick up on it and subconsciously believe it.
In the US (especially years ago) stereotypical "accents" have played a major part as to how the general population views the world...
Russian accent ... usually a drunkin bad guy, but loveable.
Polish ... dumb and many times drunk
French ... womanizer and very snooty
English ... proper, snotty and sometimes homosexual
German ... Nazi or mad scientist
Australian ... lovable cowboy
Spanish ... poor and many times a villian
Asian ... servent or bad guy
Middle East ... very trustworth warrior and honorable (almost like a modern Klingon) ... this has changed since the 1980 hostage crises.
Italy ... womanizer, loves his mama, sometimes a coward but loves his country
These stereotypes are being phased out today, but they're still hiding in the back of many American's brains from years of TV and movie brainwashing.Last edited by Mikey; Oct 19, '09, 9:36 AM.Leave a comment:
