Mike, I think the Gilligan pilot may have been aried on E network once. I recall seeing it in it's entirety as compared to the show that really aired because Sherwood Scwartz said the network wouldn't let him edit it himself. After bad testing he got the chance to re-edit it his way and it tested better.
WoW! That Munsters pilot was shot in color! You can see Joan Marshall thru that make-up. She was really gorgeous!Last edited by johnmiic; Jan 4, '08, 2:09 PM.Leave a comment:

Interesting,Well, While we're at it check out the Munsters Pilot.
Only about 5 minutes of surviving footage. I think Ole Herman prefered Phoebe. JMHO from the opening intro
Phoebe Munster was played by Joan Marshall.
Also known as Prosecutor Areel Shaw on the classic Star Trek episode Court Martial .

I always thought it quite funny that many years later The Professor was implied to be Carol Brady's first husband who was thought to be lost at sea with a millionaire's son named Gilligan (as revealed in the Very Brady Sequel movie). But this overlooked the fact the Professor's name was Roy Hinckley and Carol Brady's prior last name was Martin (but I suppose that could have been her maiden name). And even funnier was Jeannie (I Dream of Jeannie) showing up to reveal that she was Mike Brady's first wife! Crisis on Infinite Sitcoms!Leave a comment:

I could never understand why the Howells were there. You'd think millionaires would have their own yacht and not be mere passengers in some dime store boat.
And why were they carrying all that money?
Mmm, drug traffickers anyone?

I agree that that theme song sucked bigtime. It doesn't have the hook that the re-vised version had. And the Mary-Ann and Ginger wannabes look like a couple low-paid hookers.

Well, that was...interesting...
The composer of that song went on to write music for a few minor movies, like Jaws, Star Wars, etc - yup it's John Williams!

TBS unearthed the pilot several years back and showed it...I actually didn't mind the theme song but I'm glad they recast 3 of the roles. The office gals and that professor just didn't make the grade.Leave a comment:

Wow. Interesting song, different beginning. I haven't watched Gilligan's Island for about 15 years. It's good to see that the radio wasn't recast.
I never knew the Professor was a high school teacher. But now I know. And knowing is half the battle.
