Well its Friday night and i'm still fighting this Flu! I can now keep food down, mostly just crackers, dry cereal- thats about it! As far as fluids i have mostly downing Gatorade & OJ. Taking my one a day vitamin, Extra C and sleep. I'm still pretty dizzy and exhausted though.

    Thanks for the tips!!

You probably can get a flu shot but it isn't going to cure the flu and it is sometimes completely ineffective.

The CDC has to predict what strains of the flu virus will hit and make vaccines a year or so in advance. If they miss the strain, then the shot is completely worthless.

Stay hydrated and get lots of rest. I had a nasty one around Christmas time and wound up in the hospital. It was the worst with sharp pain constantly shooting up the side of my head and my joints started cramping up on one side. Once the other side started cramping, the Friday before Xmas, I went to the emergency room and they kept me until the day before Xmas eve. But really I was still ill until at least the 29th. I'm glad I survived it but it was bad. Just keep an eye on each other and see if someone can make you some home made chicken soup. That always helps when you're down.

If you think you should get to a hospital then do so.

hey here's a question. can you still get flu shots? like, if you decided you wanted one RIGHT NOW, could you get it? i've read that various countries are stockpiling **** for their use. i've also read that tamiflu/relenza can help flu symptoms in people who are symptomatic.

I always find its best to just let it run its course. Everytime I try to medicate it away, it just goes for a few days, then comes back..then goes...then comes back. Rather just get it and be done with it.

My aunt had the flu for two weeks. There's a really nasty virus out there.

My son Ethan (who is 7) had a temperature for about 7 days. We were getting really worried. There was nothing the doctors could do. When we would give him medications, it would relieve the symptoms but basically the flu was still there. At the end of 4 hours, his temperature would be back up.

Hydration is important. Sucking on ice chips helps cool down the throat and hydration.
