Legacy is something like Jesus, Dr Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Mother Theressa, Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci, Issac Newton, Picasso, Mozart, etc...

Well, I see this is getting us no where

Not everyone has to be MLK or Jesus to have talent or a legacy.

Entertainers aren't just "throwaway fools" in my eyes....
they bring happiness to people...that is DANG valuable, eh?
and McMahon was a huge personality within this entertainment field
that I value highly------that's one "short" point I'll make.

Another is that RIGHT after I attempted to list his many accomplishments,
you minimized him to "court jester". That seems pretty belittling to me.

No worries Hec...I'm was just curious as to why you look at things this way
and that's why I even bother replying.

a successful TV producer

and a prolific pitchman that worked for decades on TV.

(not to mention a few intriguing MOVIE roles)

MINIMIZE his legacy in a thread dedicated to him?

If what you were saying was true ANYONE could've done what Ed did
and that is WAY FAR from the truth.

It'd be nice to show some respect to

The guy charmed millions of people and held his place in pop culture for
decades---if that's not a talented move, I don't know what is.

Ed made his job look "easy"....THAT was part of his talent

I was listening to NPR on the way home and they had an interview with Ed from 1988. The interviewer asked him what he would like to have inscribed on his tombstone and Ed said, "How about "He was a good entertainer and a great Marine.".

I knew he was a Marine Corp fighter pilot in WW2 and also flew in Korea, but what I didn't know was that Ed stayed in the Reserves and retired a Colonel. He then moved over to the California Air National Guard where he was commissioned as a Brigadier General.
