Man this was the best time for me as a kid,I remember all of us would start getting ready for late nights and hanging out all day. Good times

My wife teaches 1st grade and school ended here last week. I'm sending her and the kids to Alaska to visit her parents for 7 weeks this summer. Party at my house.

I've already been w/o students for a month! I'm not teaching summer school, either. So, since we start again Aug. 17 or so, I'll get 3 & 1/2 months off.

However, if I get this new position I interviewed for yesterday I'll have four brand new preps (instead of just recycling my old English comp. shtick), so I'll need every minute of that time to get ready for the fall.

I know it takes a special person to teach especially at the High School level.

I am learning first hand how difficult it is to have a teenager around the house who loses his cool in an instant. I can only imagine what it must be like to deal with a whole room full of them every single day.

Definitely a nice break, vacation for you. Not so for most of the parents though. I am sure a lot of them are dreading it.

I personally am dreading all of those little whipper snappers being free and digging around in all of the toy boxes at all of the good sales.

I'm sure you deserve the rest teach. My wife was a teacher for several years, she really looked forward to the summer.

That being said, my son had a great teacher this year. I hate to see him move on in a way!

Today is my second to last school day but the last one with kids. I need the break. It has been a fun and good year that has also gone by quick. I am glad to see the kids go home for the summer but I usually start wanting to come back about the middle of July.
