I still have my Zaius one, but years ago I cut a hole in the back so I could insert one of those night light sized bulb w/wire from an old Xmas deco to make a lamp. The Zaius lights up real nice, like a lawn decoration.
It's still in the attic.

They made Cornelius, Zaius and Ursus. I think that was all in that series.

There was also a different set of Apes banks made by Playpal plastics I think....

Awesome! I kind of thought that they would or should have made/make an Ursus. What ape set would be complete with Ursus? Thanks for the confirmation.

and hello mego heads im new to the group and a huge POTA fan
lori and jessica told me to post on here lol so im posting . i am including a link to my photos whare im playing with making ape heads and stuff pota related im attempting to build the largest ape playsets ever so im costomizing and sculpting heads . let me know what you think and im talking on collaberators .

Yeah, that Zaius bank would be a pretty cool pick up for you, and since you got Corny for a buck, you'd still get a cool set for pretty cheap.

Thanks so much guys. I really do appreciate the info, link and the help confirming this for me. I was hoping that it would be vintage. I do not usually find good stuff like this much around where I live. Every now and then I luck out. What made this even more special to me is that it was Planet of The Apes. I love those Apes!

Anyone know what other characters if any were made into banks like these? It would be cool to see and have a vintage Ursus bank if they made one.

It certainly is vintage, they made a few different ones. Early 70's. These used to be worth more $$$ 10+ years ago. Current eBay prices have been pretty low--but still, for a buck you really can't beat it. And as an Apes fan I've always loved these banks......

Our Goodwill store bites,its super crappy.Theres one a little ways a way and they've gone upscale,they EBAY the really good stuff,and have stuff inside locked glass cabinets.Its like being in a antique store.The plastic looks vintage,but hey for a buck how can you go wrong.I think you did great.

Thanks! Even though I only paid a measley buck for it I was hoping that this would be a vintage piece. Like you stated either way it is still not a bad deal. It kind of looks to be vintage. Still not 100% sure yet though. ????

I am lucky I suppose to have quite a few Good Will stores around in the local area within driving distances. For the most part Good Will is definitely more expensive then other thrift stores in the area although I have been finding some pretty good stuff lately so it makes it more worth it. Plus it goes to a good cause. Supposedly anyway... Also anytime I can get out of paying a ridiculous shipping fee to have something shipped in it is good IMO. I will like to spend less on shipping and more on goods instead. Still I have quite a bit of stuff shipped in as I just cannot seem to find the stuff that I really want around here. I get a little impatient some times waiting it out to try and find stuff locally. Some times patience does pay off though.

I found this during my journeys this week at a Goodwill store. I only paid a buck for it. It looks to be vintage. Anyone seen or have any of these or know anything about them? Thanks!
