Heres a "Near death" Scene... The Iron Giant. Sure we find out hes not destroyed at the end but I get all teary eyed when he closes his eyes and says Superman just before he sacrifices himself by flying into the Nuke.

FEATURED: Dead Meat (The Best Worst Death Scenes)

    Shall I go on?

Any of the deaths listed on any of these lists I posted; like the Nazi melt from Raiders or the classic shower scene from Psycho are far more original and dramatic than these repetetive and unending mob "whacks". They are obvious classics. The Godfather did the whole "whacked" thing best, the rest was repetition and hardly worthy of a best death scene acknowledgment. I am Italian and enjoy mob stories obviously but I would hardly rank any of the kills from these movies as "all-time" greats. A bit of a stretch there when one thinks of the myriad of great film deaths over the years...many highlighted in my links above. Maybe Sonny's demise in The Godfather is worthy of such a nod but not any of the others...especially picking them over obvious classic death scenes that affected millions of people worldwide like Psycho and Jaws. Plastic shark? I think not, it still scares people 30-something years later my friend...maybe you should watch this...

And if you ever watch anime:
    Miyazaki's Grave of the Fireflies.

Believe me, when that little girl dies, I was in tears.
Watch it with a big box of tissues, and a friend.

Oh,Iron giant thats excellent as well. But yeah he never really died though.
Thats why I left off mel gibson in leathal weapon 2.It had potential to be an awesome death scene even playing knocking on heavens door as the music...But alas he did not die.Could have been Iconic..

Guys, guys, guys! How can you have a "Best Movie Death Scene" thread that's 3 pages long and not one of you guys picked either of these clearly classic death scenes...forget all that repetitive mob stuff...tsk, tsk, tsk...shame on you all!

The Jaws one is so famous they made a toy based on it...

There's a famous oil painting of it...

Come on now, Quint's demise IS one of the greatest movie deaths ever. What could be a worse way to die than to watch a creature eating you bite by bite. Nah, I'd get whacked by any of these two-bit Ray Liotta/Tony Soprano mobsters in the plethora of mob movies before I'd want to watch a 25-foot Great White bite into my gut as it ingested me...yeah, definitely the worse way to go...

Pesci and his on screen brother's deaths in Casino...are probably the most gruesome deaths by baseball bat ever...gruesome, gruesome, gruesome, lol...

This whole thread is just chock full of spoilers. Good thing I've already seen the vast majority of films mentioned.
