Well yeah,I see what you mean. But I guess it really was more about having fun and yeah just fun rocking jamming! I too was hoping for a bunch of hits from this CD, but i still feel its Solid Rock, solid work! Maybe, just maybe they will change it up on the 2nd CD, problem is, with their age, I doubt we will see a new album for many years.

That whole jam session vibe has kinda become what Sammy has been about in recent years. He really is more about the fun aspect more than trying to sell records. The whole money thing was the issues with Van Halen/Hagar. He wanted to do new stuff and just create rather than do a Greatest Hits album just to make cash. I think these guys are past the need to make money in music anymore and simply wanna do what got em into music in the first place, just playing music and having fun. Think about the Waboritas. Simply a fun group to listen to. Drunk or not you have to sing along when "Mas Tequila" comes on. I believe they would have milked the whole VH vibe if making money was the target. I just think they're past that at this point in their careers. Considering this album would be more accepted by mainstream Hagar/VH fans and probably not by today's younger market preference, I would consider going gold an accomplishment. I really don't see it appealing to the current, younger, mass market which is much more pop/r&b based. Hagar's fans will appreciate this album but I don't see it adding new members to the fan base. Though when you consider that any of the bands on VH1's "Where are they now?" didn't start in the music industry until 10 - 15 years after these guys were already accomplished musicians, putting out a gold album would be a pretty good accomplishment IMO. Seeing he's 60+, and still rocking hard, I doubt you'll ever see Sammy on that show.Leave a comment:

I got it a few days after it came out. It's a good record but the early songs they showcased before the album's release turned out to be all of the best ones, so I was a little disappointed. With this kind of lineup I was expecting a few classics but got instead just a good jam session. Not a bad record, but not a classic one either. It debut at number four on the Billboard charts and has dropped pretty fast, which I hate (probably end up gold instead of platinum in sales). But I think people had a different expectation. This band had a golden opportunity to milk both the Hagar and the Van Halen audience, but missed the mark. For me it's still Sammy, so it's a keeper, just not the classic I was expecting. I loved the packaging with the heat signature film overtop that lightens when you touch it. Very cool. Hopefully they'll give this band one more shot and take their time on the next record.Last edited by MIB41; Jul 21, '09, 6:28 AM.Leave a comment:

Chickenfoot! Awesome!!!
I went back to my old post because just the other day I finally got the "Chicken foot" cd! Wow its awesome! Solid rock N Roll CD!! Very well made, I'm really hooked!
MIB41- did you get it yet? Whats your opinion? Anybody else? I hope they come to Vegas! Also hope they keep going on with more cd's!!!!
You'll have to give us a concert report afterwards! I'm down in Louisville, so I'll have to wait for the album tour before they get here. This appears to be all pre-promo stuff which I think is working great. I haven't been this pumped for a new band in a long, long, time.Leave a comment:

I liked Sammy as Sammy, I hated the Van Hagar. I might go see them if they are close and the tickets are cheap. DLR Van-Halen is what it's all about, 79-84 and '07+.Leave a comment:

Thanks for the report and I'm glad to hear they put on a good show. When I was younger, I was a DLR fan, but I still thought of them as "Van Halen" with Sammy. Now, that they booted Anthony, they will never be Van Halen to me, again. I'd much rather see a Sammy/Mike lineup, anyway.Leave a comment:

Well I went to the show Friday night here in Chicago. WOW!!!! Great from beginning to end. They played the whole album start to finish and added Bad Motor Scooter and Highway Star. Sammy still sounds awesome and has the energy of a 20 yr old. Satriani never fails to blow me away, amazing talent. Chad Smith was a madman, his family was at the show too, they sat right behind us. Mike Anthony is always great. All in all I will highly reccomend seeing this band. I know they are going overseas next but he said they will be back in the fall. Buy the CD in June and then go to the show when they come thru your town, you will not regret it.

Your right, I agree! I cant wait to hear Michael Anthony on this cd. This is one hell of a supergroup, sales should be great! I havent read much about a tour, but i'm sure a nice tour will follow.
I was playing "Oh Yeah" to my best friend in Chicago last night over the phone and we were both proclaiming afterwards...OH YEAH! I am so ready for this new album. I predict platinum sales for this CD. You have scores of Sammy fans; you have tons of frustrated Van Halen fans; and you have the nonstop allegiance of Santriani fans. This record will be huge. Michael Anthony's back harmonies and bass contributions were incredible. I've been missing those since Van Halen slipped off the deep end. We have found, in my eyes, a suitable replacement.

Your very welcome! I listened to the new tunes a few times, good stuff, yet i expected a bit harder/heavier. But when it comes out, i'll pick it up.
WOW!!! Thanks for the link toysrus. I'm a huge Sammy fan (how could anyone guess, right?) and I didn't know anything about this. Awesome sound. I can't wait for product. My best friend has always been a fan of Sammys, but is a huge fan of Joe Santriani so he's going to freak when he hears this. I AM PUMPED!!!
