ain't that the truth---it's hard to give credit to a small amount of vocalists
as favorites....Ray Davies was certainly missing from that list and I'm sure
    there's quite a few more.

You can throw me into that group too. I was just listening to WASP's "The Headless Children" today. I love the sound of Blackie's voice.

I like a lot of singers, but off the top of my head, some favourites are Robert Plant, Geoff Tate, Morrissey, Liv Kristine (ex-Theatre of Tragedy, Leaves' Eyes). One female singer I always liked is a pretty obscure one, Leather Leone. She used to be in Chastain (guitarist David Chastain's metal band). I've been recently listening to old Chastain albums so that's why I thought of her. She had a great raw, rough voice that sounded so cool. Maybe one of the best female metal singers.

Roger Waters -- he has a lousy voice, but it is unique

Jim Morrison always. He had the best Rock n Roll voice ever. In more recent years some like Eddie Vitter, Ian Astbury, Scott Weiland and Scott Stapp have tried to hone in on the style. But Morrison was more of a crooner/ like a rock version of Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby or Dean Martin. Those newer guys don't even come close to that. (His favorite singers were Elvis and Sinatra. And that I can see.)

No one sings like that anymore. A select few alive could, but they have all bowed to rap or other styles of music and no one even tries.
