at least you killed it so it didn't suffer. I hit one and just took out it's back half ... I have no idea how long it flopped about in pain before dying :(

I've been relatively lucky so far in that despite living in Austin and Smithville (a country town), I've only ever run over one possum, back in 1996. I felt awful about it, as I usually swerve to avoid such mishaps.

My condolences on the squirrel, may it RIP.

Damien, hopefully it was a quick death.

Cat, so sorry to hear about your pet cat. How horrible.

I hate seeing injured animals so I have decided to become a wildlife rescue worker...start training shortly.

A dog chased my cat right under my car wheel many years ago and I will never forget the bump. She survived but I feel dreadful everytime I see her struggling to walk some days where arthritis has set into the injured areas.
wow Cat she lived thru that? amazing

Damien...you messed up big time my friend.

You killed an animal...and didn't take it home to cook it?

    That's a sin right there.

Have you ever thought that this squirrel may have been having a real rough day? Heck, maybe even a real rough life. His wife left him, his 50 kids just laugh at him, his buddy stole all his nuts, and he was laid off from his job down at the park. He just couldnt hack it anymore, seen you driving along, and decided to just end the pain by throwing himself under your tire.
The kids were looking on in astonishment because they never heard a squirrel speak before, let alone yell out "Goodbye cruel world" while doing a high fly dive for your front tire.
Not your fault in anyway....just another suicidal critter putting an end to his misery filled life!

(Sorry...dont mean to seem unfeeling here, but being a farm kid who has run over or shot his fair share of vermin, I dont see this as a big deal.)

Luckily I've never hit any people, or even dogs. But one of the cats I hit happened in front of some kids, the damn thing just darted out literally right in front of me. I felt reeeeally bad about that, but was too ashamed to stop. I wouldn't even know what I would've said to them anyway. "Uhh, geez kids, I'm really sorry you had to see that. Ummm, was he yours?"
