Look at the United States. A person can kill a bunch of people and can escape the death penalty by run to Mexico. If they are arrested in Mexico, the Mexican authorize will not turn them over to US Law Enforcement if the person is going to be charged with the death penalty. The US has to promise Mexico, which is a clause in a signed treaty, that the worst the person will get is life in prison. That why the married US Marine that deserted after killing and burning the body of his pregnant Marine girlfriend, then fleed to Mexico. Got catch, will stand trial and will not get the death penalty for the double murder, (girlfriend and unborn child) only life in prison. -
The answer is not necessarily to kill violent criminals, but taking away their digital cable would be a step in the right direction.Leave a comment:

The story get's worse. Apparently a week before all this happened he killed an elderly woman. They found his DNA at the crime sceneLeave a comment:

You won't be able to read this (unles you're Rik), but you can see a pic and a somewhat exaggerated artist's rendition of the culprit. The article is about how he refuses to eat and is now on an IV in the medical ward of the prison in Bruges. Psychiatrists are gonna examine him tomorrow. Bet I can tell you what they'll say
HLN België - Babybeul aan infuus omdat hij weigert te eten (640791)
The guy's face wasn't as pale as the drawing suggests, he just had black eyes and red hair.Leave a comment:

And no, we don't gave capital punishment, but I'm all for it in a case like this. Take Dutroux for instant, the guys is living it up in jail, he even has digital tv, gets all the food he wants and we teh tax payers are paying for it, for the rest of his life, godammitPut him in front of a firing squad and be done with it, I say.
And this "Joker" is now refusing to eat, they got him on IV. If this keeps up he won't even go to trial. But even if he does he'll plead insanity, spend a few years in a psycho ward and be free. Yeah, our system is ****ed up, but there's nothing you can do about it.
Only a couple of weeks ago 15 hardened criminals got free because of a loophole in our "justice" system. They walked out of the courthouse grinning from ear to ear.
I could go on and on about our infamous justice system and how the guilty seem to be treated like royalty and the victims are left out in the cold
And yes Hec, Rik and I have met. He was at my house only a couple of weeks ago. He and I don't live that far from each otherLeave a comment:

>Of course the media will jump on the connection
But not too hard. Batman was popular, so they won't want to cheese off their audience by attacking something they like.
>He did have plans to parade around and become a local vigilante
Some problems are self-correcting....
>does evil come from madness?
or does madness comes from evil?
There's no such thing as evil. There's "wrong;" but wrong has motives and reasons.... "evil" is a term we use for stuff we don't want to deal with.

There's no capital punishment here. The most you can get is 30 years (and you can get time off for good behaviour).
There are some exceptions that get "life".
Our most famous "serial killer", Marc Dutroux, held young girls in his basement, abused them, and let some starve to death.
Yet what do we hear?
The guy complains about the kind of chocolate spread he wants for his sandwiches. Personally, I'd let some inmates have their way with him for a few months, and then starve him to death in a hole.
Meule is right on the media thing. Newspapers look for a "gimmick" to sell the story. And Batman is high profile with the movie. It's so easily linked.
And true. The guy has cherry red hair, and didn't paint his mouth in a grin.
But during questioning, he just sits there and grins.
Thing is: anybody can "adopt" a reason for soing something. Chapman killed Lennon. Do we blame "the music"?
Some people are just crazy. Or evil.
I still wish, however, that people would be more careful with what they expose young kids to. To me, The Dark Knight was too "adult" for young kids.
A young child in my family (five years old), was saying "I'm going to get behind you and cut your throat from ear to ear".
Man, that made me take notice....
You and Meule ever meet?
I know it's kinda dumb to say that...I mean...there are 10 million people there...but you never know, lol.
