I just got back from our local one. Looked like they had some nice discounts - but 2 get 1 free on all WWE stuff, for example. I picked up some GI Joe stuff (the RAM/Trouble Bubble 2 pack and Specialist Trakker) for 30% off.
The thing to remember is that everything in the store's at least 10% off, marked or not. Looked like they had a lot of new stuff, too. I definitely know they had some of the newest WWE waves and the new GI Joe one as well.

I liked the KB Toy Stores up here in the Late 90's.
Everytime I walked into one,.. everything was always like Half off & I always found so many items I wanted. I think I bought a few Famous Covers for 3.99 there,.. I know Star Wars were 1.99 ,.. & Picked up some different BTAS For 2.99 a Piece.
The last time I went to a KB ,.. Last yr,.. thats Where I scored my Baris Hotwheels Batmobile. It was the 1st & Only time I ever scene the car up here.Leave a comment:

OUR downtown was killed by urban renewal 20 years before Wal-Mart ever made it here. So they've actually been a reason to shop in the city instead of venturing out 15 miles or so to the town with the malls and big box stores.Leave a comment:

Yeah of course you have downtown businesses there. You're in Canada.
Just wait till the 90's get to Canada and see what happens.

Won't be long and all stores will go the way of the dinosaurs. Only thing left will be on-line stores.Leave a comment:

AMEN, spend your money locally as much as possible and with as many independants as you can. I shop downtown every Christmas.
I do try and do most of my gift shopping elsewhere. And I support the local groceries and avoid Wal-Mart's as much as possible.

Its going to be really strange to have malls with no toy store. I urge everybody I know to boycott Walmart. I haven't been in one in 2 years and never intend to be again. They really are destroying our culture in a way. Their current ad campaign is funny "Live Better", unless of course you are one of the hundreds of thousands of people forced to work at a Walmart!Leave a comment:

This actually made the news last night. Ours in town have been gone for years and the cloest one to me is 90 miles away. But I haven't been to it in a while.
I did typically find deals on figures to use for customs.Leave a comment:

Spending your money locally means your money has a better chance of staying in your community, not sucked up to Bentonville.Leave a comment:

Kay-Bee has been barely hanging on for years, so I figured this time they wouldn't make it. The only one that was really near us now was a KB Toy Works, formerly known as Toy Liquidators. They did have some occasionally good deals on stuff, but there new stuff was still outrageously higher than Wal-Mart and TRU.
I will miss the opportunity to browse, and feel for their many employees.

Walmart has a main frame computer that rivals the Pentagon in speed and power. They are a major part of several countries economies right now.Last edited by Seeker; Dec 12, '08, 9:07 AM.Leave a comment:

>Soon Walmart will own everything retail wise.
....and one day (probably NOT soon) people will be lamenting THEIR passing....

But my fondest memory of the store was having a friend whose older weird brother could not remember the store name and always referred to it as WereWolf's. ...and that still cracks me up!Leave a comment:
