I have a Tritons T-shirt (my girlfriend went to grad school at UCSD)

My high school is still going by the Redskins (Neshaminy HS). With all this pressure to remove names like the Indians, I'm surprised that one's still around.

At Temple University we went by Owls. Not too intimidating, but we try-

Did you grow up in Maryland? There is a High School team in Westminster called the Owls?

    For me:

    Elementary School: The Patriots
Jr. High: The Hawks and then the King Cobras (there was a new Jr. High being built so I attended two Jr. High's)
    High School: The Screaming Eagles
College: Maryland Terrapins (a turtle for a mascot has to rank up there with with the Hokies as one of the worst mascots for a Div. 1 college)

Our highschool was the Blue Devils. When I first started at that school, there was a very cool, huge Devil painting hung up in the auditorium. It probably freaked out visiting teams. By the next year though it was removed, probably due to some religious spoilsports complaining about it. Oh well, at least they never got the school to change the name "Blue Devils" to something else.

James, just keep in mind that one night in Boonville is like half a month there. Not much to do and even less to see.

My HS had "The Indians" too. But give the incredibly PC place where I grew up, it's no surprise it was changed to "The Lions" a few years ago.

My college team was "The Rivermen." Here in St. Louis, that seems almost kinda cool, with the history in the area and all. The problem with it was the women's teams -- they chafed at being called "Rivermen" and changed it to "Riverwomen" -- which of course backfired because "Riverwoman" is an old historical-regional euphemism for "prostitute". I saw in an alumni newsletter a while back they wanted to change it, but I don't know if they ever did . . .

For High School, I was a member of the Academy of the New Church Lions (Currently ranked #50 in the United States for Boy's Basketball by ESPN.com - yeah beotches, my school with only 250 students is all that!).

For Undergrad and Graduate School I was a member of the Illinois Fighting Illini. Go Chief!

I would love to see a 14 - 0 NC for Bama, but FLA looks unstoppable from here on out. Bama has been struggling the last few weeks.
