There was a webcomic, about ten years ago, called "Breakfast of the Gods" which starts out with the death of the honey nut cheerios bee. It concludes with an all out war between Cap'n Crunch, Tony the Tiger, and others, vs. the evil forces of Count Chocula and his ilk.
The narrative was actually quite good. Tons of twists, and "holy cow moments" when a long forgotten cereal or food mascot would show up to turn the tide.
And a few tear jerking moments as well. You'll actually CARE about these junk food shills.
Pretty sure it got collected into a graphic novel. The whole thing is free to read on the internet archive.
