The new cinematic Superman and Lois Lane

James Gunn has cast his Superman and Lois for "Superman: Legacy". David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan.

I like both choices, James Gunn starting on a right note. David Corenswet has that chiseled looking face. He resembles Cavill too. Rachel Brosnahan is a terrific actress. I lover her look too, not a model-looking babe, but not homely either. She’s the perfect next door pretty neighbor. Perfect as a newspaper reporter. I hear Lex Luthor might be one of the Skarsgård brothers. Either the older one from True Blood or the younger one who played Pennywise in IT…

David Corenswet is three inches taller than Henry Cavill, which was one of my criticisms about Cavill being a tad short for Superman. Corenswet is a good actor, however, he’s rather on the thin side. Dude will need to start consuming lots of protein, workout like a mad man, and maybe, you know, like Chris Hemsworth, the Rock, John Cena, and others have done…ahem, take particular “supplements”, if you know what I mean. They must avoid giving him muscle pads for his suit, otherwise he will look ridiculous like Zachary Levi as Shazam.

Fans were already clamoring for him before he was officially cast…

The guy looks the part facially, absolutely. But, from that pic, he looks tiny with narrow shoulder width. Which unfortunately, no amount of diet, pumping iron and secret sauce can alter. Maybe that's something that can be digitally enhanced?
The Lois casting looks promising too.

I hope so too. He does have the Superman face for sure. The body is where I’m worried about. He’s acting chops is pretty good though…

I didn't like Cavill's suit too much because the blue was too dark and it looked like a wetsuit meant more for Aquaman. And Batman can get away with it but Supes needs his red shorts. I did like that they used the Earth-2 "S" crest. I also think the new actor looks like Cavill as well as Welling. Lastly, the yellow "S" on the cape needs to return. As for his size it's the movies. Tom Cruise is a short actor but do we notice it much? Or Keaton or Bale?

Everyone worried about this guy's build should really just relax. There's no way Gunn, WB and Corenswet himself aren't already working out a regimen to get him in shape to play Superman. Everyone has done this from Reeve onwards.

I like this casting, and think that Corenswet will end up filling out the suit quite nicely. I first noticed him in the series Hollywood, and while "Tomorrow's Superman" never crossed my mind, I think he does have the look and the charm to make it work.

As someone who personally went from being a skeletal twig in his late 20's to filling out the chest & shoulders of much larger shirts in less than a year's time, with some dedicated effort it absolutely can be done.

If I remember correctly from interviews that Christopher Reeve gave back in the day, the original plan was to use fake muscles. He said he was so disgusted by them that he was decidedly determined to build his own from that point on. I'm sure someone on here can validate this recollection?

^I remember Reeve insisted on getting in shape himself. The odd thing is the costume, while otherwise perfect in my opinion, somewhat hid Reeve's physique. Just see those "making of" behind the scenes shots of him working and out, and you'll see the guy was pretty cut, especially the standards of actors of the day! I do agree he was at his physical peak in Superman III. He looks geniuinely scary as Evil Supes coming up that conveyor belt at poor Clark!

^I did some quick searching online this morning and found some articles where the idea of a muscle suit was initially floated, as well as his insistence on getting into shape. I wasn't able to find anything that actually addresses the fake muscles though.

My recollection is that they were made of a gelatinous substance (similar to silicone) and that they were to be adhered directly to his body under his suit. He had said that he found the texture and feel of them to be really disgusting and didn't want any part of it. I don't remember though if it was a written interview or a televised interview that I had seen.

I remember as a kid watching a Making of special (on HBO, I think) where he talked about his refusal to use a padded suit.

David Corenswet is thin, but he’s not a short dude. He’s 6’ 4” (like Chris Reeve)… a full 3 inches taller than Henry Cavill…

Snyder had it the other way around. Batman Ben Affleck 6’ 4” (some say more like 6’ 2.5”) and Superman Henry Cavill 6’ 1”…

I'm sorry, I don't know the actor just assumed he was short. I think Ben was the biggest superhero actor and he looked it onscreen with Bats and DD.
