Disney and Scarlett has settled on an agreement earlier, just a few days before Black Widow streams (Oct 6th) on the service. Also haven't seen it yet so something to look forward to soon.

    Boom.

Disney could have made any number of arguments, but to make Scarlet a villain by playing on people’s COVID fears is devilishly manipulative.

Man, this thing got ugly quick. Of course Disney is probably ****ed that she did this very publicly WHILE the film was still in cinemas and on Premier Access.

Going for the "callous disregard" card is a pretty low blow, though.

The Walt Disney Company clapped back at “Black Widow” star Scarlett Johansson, slamming the actress’ breach of contract lawsuit for showing “callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The Mouse fired back with a vengeance…

In Disney's response, they point out that Johansson already received $20M. I have a hard time taking sides in an argument over what uber-rich person deserves to be a little richer.
True enough...but if she has legal proof they screwed her out of money owed her...why should anyone else get it? And if she has no case...why would she risk biting the hand that feeds her?

money talks, and if the studio see money in working with an actor/actress again, they will do so. Shatner and Nimoy sued over likeness rights, as i recall, and they won.

'Black Widow' star Scarlett Johansson is suing Disney for breach of contract over its release of the film on Disney+ the same day it opened in theaters

I can't say I really blame her. Sounds like she was screwed out of money that other Disney execs took to their banks by shifting things over to Disney Plus. Hollywood accounting has always been screwy, with many stars loosing "participation" money because their hit movies somehow miraculously never made a profit. Now streaming has added a whole new wrinkle to this.

I heard on several Disney insider podcasts that Feige was very much against Black Widow going to Disney Plus during it's theatrical run. That contract may have been a big reason why.

Stars have sued studios and worked for them again. I think Shatner and Nimoy sued Paramount multiple times, but they'd win or settle, then be back to their pointed sideburns by the next film.

They'll probably never hire her again if she's suing them, and she probably doesn't care if they don't.

I would agree with this statement. It would seem before watching, it would be a end of line statement for this character and not moving the needle, but the truth is it's much more than that. Some new characters introduced, and yes setup for Disney Plus as well as some MCU movies as well. I'm hoping a Red Guardian series or movie might happen
