How does Cavill's butt get an R rating, when Jackman's gratuitous butt shot in Days of Future Past did not?

I'm in no hurry to see this film again. Filling in some of the plot holes still leaves you with a road like the surface of the moon. And if they didn't fix all that silly "Martha? Your mom's name is Martha? Well, we're bros then, dude!" nonsense, then...I'll pass.

This movie has gotten worse and worse for me as I ruminated over it in my brain. It's a misfire of epic proportions at best. I still like Wonder Woman in it...but that's about it.

personally i don't get the hate over the martha scene, to me its about batman realizing he's not that much different than superman and how far he's fallen from his original intent . And its batmans chance to do what he couldn't for his own mother. Redemption to some extent

Now, it's becoming an annoyance. That's damn funny. Tells you how much bare butt media we're now exposed to...

Well since the R rated version is only on the Blu-Ray version I had to download it from utorrents. I will watch it tonight.

Just finished watching the long version and it still was still a mess. It like watching three movies and the same time.

i just finished watching. while there are still plot holes, the ultimate edition is a more cohesive movie and I liked it a lot more than the theatrical version. well worth watching, I did not think the additional violence was enough to warrant an R rating but whatever. seeing Clarks *** in the shower is not worth an R rating either. but overall the additional footage made for a much better movie. some of the added on scenes with WW worked well and made her whole presence make more sense

I just watched the ultimate edition. The foundation of the film is unaltered but some of the logic gaps were filled in. I still cannot process how Bruce and Clark bonded at the end after only 15 minutes being in the same zip code and after such violence. Tango and Cash made more sense.

As an elseworlds story I suppose it kinda works, but if anyone looks for anything traditional out of any of the characters your eyes are gonna be sore.

For those wanting a copy, the movie came out on DVD and Blu ray today. I'll most likely rent me a copy for this weekend so I can see this film and get at least on the same page as everyone else who saw it. I just have to decide whether I dive into the theatrical version or waste three hours watching the "ultimate cut" which reviews have said don;t really save the core problems with the film. It's ultimate version is rated R because you get to see Superman's hinny and some blood splatter for added effect. Oh boy.

I'd love to see Snyder's Uncle Ben. "With great power, comes great liability. So you better be insured. And find a lawyer cause at some point in life Peter, it's sue or be sued".

Snyder's Spider-Man: Parker would be a TMZ paparazzi hack. Gwen and Harry are socialite druggies. MJ is a socialite celeb. Ben is killed in a home invasion and May is assaulted in a homage to Death Wish. Spider-Man is just Rorschach in blood-red and navy. He hangs people with his webs.

I agree. My only point is that it was inspired by the Reeve movie and that his version was portrayed as making tough decisions because of manipulations by Luthor, too. The differences in the Kents and their parenting are the differences in the characters.

I see the comparison but it's not equal. Reeves has to make that call in a nuclear strike, end of the world moment. Cavill is doing nothing until Lois is in danger, then wrecks a lot of people, then retreats. Reeves is not reluctant to help anyone, Cavill is.

Selfish by Superman standards. He still honors his promise to Miss Teschmacher, like a good Blue Boy Scout.

No doubt. Had he not made that promise, the implication is that he would have followed the missile going to the West Coast and saved Lois and Jimmy first. Of course, the other missile would have then struck New Jersey. He clearly made a choice to honor his promise and save those in danger on the East Coast.

The question is would he have turned back time — which he was instructed not to do by Jor-el — to save the East Coast, or did he only do that — go against his father's will — to save Lois. I think the latter. Is it selfish to put your loved ones ahead of others? Yes, but it's totally understandable.

Donner had originally planned for the bomb he guided off into space to crack open the phantom zone. The turning back time ending was also originally planned to be used in Superman II, but Donner used it for the first film because he felt he didn't have a strong enough idea for the climax of the first film.

Reeve's Superman does make a selfish mistake in Superman II...but he pays for it. His sacrifice to get his powers back is better established in the Donner Cut. At the end he tells the President, "I won't let you down again." And he doesn't, unless you count Superman Returns as the true sequel to this, which in that case, he abandons Earth for five because Krypton may still be out there.

Someone criticizing him for "choosing" who to save, doesn't mean he actually does. I think the critique here is that Superman is hurt that people think he does that, but even Superman can't be everywhere at once.

And to be fair, I think it's a pretty realistic approach to things. If Superman were real, I suspect people who had tragedy happen to them, WOULD be upset that Superman doesn't save them, or their family members, but was off doing something else.

Looks like a TON of new footage... But I really didn't care for that movie, so I'm not sure another hours worth of footage is going to make me like it more.
