Brilliant. I can not believe it's taken this long.
"DC Super Hero Girls,” set for an initial launch in the fall of 2015, centers on these female characters during their formative years, before they discover their full super-potential. They will navigate their teen life as they uncover their abilities, nurturing their powers and mastering the fundamentals of being a hero (or villain). The first phase of the launch will focus on digital content to allow girls to explore and interact with the characters and learn their story lines.
The second phase of the “DC Super Hero Girls” roll out, beginning in 2016, will include TV specials, videos, toys, apparel and books. DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. are partnering with Mattel to launch a toy line, which includes action figures (finally!) and fashion dolls.
“Together with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, the ‘DC Super Hero Girls’ franchise will further expand our already powerful girls portfolio,” said Richard Dickson, president and chief operating officer of Mattel, in a release. “We know Super Hero is a culturally relevant theme and the DC Super Hero Girls franchise will engage and inspire girls, providing cues to explore heroic acts through play and into real life.”
DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. also announced they will be partnering with Random House Children’s Books to create a portfolio of books that will be complemented by a series of graphic novels from DC, as well as Lego to feature a “DC Super Hero Girls” line of building sets.
