Seems like the semi-retired comment might be correct based on the 'tired/weary' description. It could also tie into him controlling drones from the Batcave, and Superman's appearance draws him out:

Ben Affleck: Initially I was reluctant as I felt I didn’t fit the traditional mold but once Zack showed me the concept, and that it would be both different from the great movies that Chris and Christian made but still in keeping with tradition I was excited. Doing something different and new is always tricky and part of the thrill and the risk is that initially it confounds expectations. The truth is, it’s the movie and the execution of it is what all the actors depend on and I believe in Zack’s vision.

Al Norton: Warner Brothers CEO Kevin Tsujihara recently said that this version of Batman would be “tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for awhile”…Is that how you envisioned him as well and what would you add to the description on the Bruce Wayne side of things?

Ben Affleck: Yes, Kevin described it aptly. I don’t want to go further because I want to be able to capitalize on what is new about this iteration by having it be a surprise to the audience.

Al Norton: Who was your favorite Batman?

Ben Affleck: It has been done very well many times before.

Well producers are usually privy to information about films in progress before the public is informed. And it seems to match reports that the film's partially based on Kingdom Come. Of course, if the reports only came after the tweet...

According to this article the Batman outfit will be dark grey! And as I suspected, it will pull some influence from the Arkham Asylum game. Pretty cool.

Seems like the popular press is onto Mr. Snyder. He made GQ's list of the 25 Least Influential People of 2013.

"Director Snyder, who guided “Man of Steel” and is set to oversee “Batman vs. Superman,” made the list at No. 2o, apparently for his grit delivery. “Whenever a studio executive needs a reboot of something and his sole creative direction is ‘Make it grittier!’ Snyder is the dude they call.”
Looks like the dark-n-gritty backlash is coming, and I couldn't be happier.

Just keep in mind, Kevin Smith and Ben Affleck are real close friends...so everything that has to do with Affleck...Smith is going to instantly love.

I'm beginning to wonder if Kevin Smith's comments have not raised the bar a little too high on this new Batman outfit. Those type of images are certainly being circulated as the expectation. I wonder how long the studio will go before they offer an official image? Can it be held under wraps until a teaser trailer hits? With so many people with their hands in the commercial candy jar, from effects folks to toy makers, I imagine someone will cough up an image.

There is no way it will look like that, it will have texture and all kinds of noodly stuff just like Superman's suit.

Now it's reported that Batman's suit is based on the one from Hush:

To me Man of Steel 2: World's Finest would be perfect. That establishes it as a sequel to MoS while also hinting at greater things in the DCFU (all right, perhaps the 2 can be optional).
