I want to have an opinion.... it IS Batman after all. But I'm finding myself a bit numb over this as well. I think one of the reasons is that I don't understand why so many people were not happy with Daredevil and Ben's performance to begin with. But, i'm an odd duck TOO in that I've never really thought a live-action superhero movie has ever been all that great,,, except maybe Unbreakable, but that wasn't DC or Marvel.
If I was reaching to give a reaction, I'd say Affleck seems like an okay choice. Glad he's doing it now instead of when he was "cuter".... I'd like Batman to be a bit more menacing than Superman.

I think any opinion is going to be knee-jerk at the moment. But no one is going to lose sleep over this. It's a surprise pick and reactions are going to be mixed. Instead of grading reactions, lets just learn to co-exist with them. Hey, that's a mature thought...Leave a comment:

Here's another thing to think about. Chris Evans.
He previously played a super hero when cast as Captain America. His range and talents were heavily questioned, partially due to the FF movies being maligned by many. But the man delivered. I can't think of anyone else as Steve Rogers now.
I'm hopefully optimistic. I'm still not keen on WB rather transparently calling the shots in a very corporate fashion, and I'm still sad MOS isn't getting a proper sequel. But I'm not going to lose sleep over this.

I don't really get the negative reaction. It's not like they cast Chris Kattan.Leave a comment:

As Hedrap and Hector have said so well, Afflect's paparazzi face and voice will bleed right through any mask or performance he offers (just like Clooney did). What's worse, if they try and put him in the same outfit Bale wore, it will immediately read like a karaoke performance, especially...ESPECIALLY... if he tries to mimic Bale's Batman voice. There will be one universal reaction...

You know, I'm no longer speechless. The casting is still "WHAT?!?"...that's my honest reaction, so there it is. BUT, Affleck isn't a bad actor. He just chose a lot of bad roles for about 10 years. I haven't seen Argo, but I did see him in Hollywoodland, where he played George Reeves...and he was quite good. So there is hope. It's ultimately up to the script, direction and general feel of the film, which we honestly had no idea about.
But it's still an unconventional choice, and is going to elicit a lot of "HUH?" which is one thing WB wants for sure. Remember how people doubted Heath Ledger as the Joker? "That pretty boy?"

I'll actually watch the movie before casting judgement. Tearing something/someone apart before even seeing anything is pure "nerd rage" IMO. Now if it comes out and he's horrible that's it's fair game.Leave a comment:

As far as I am concerned, the Superman was awful so I really had no hopes for Superman/Batman anyways.Leave a comment:
