My favorite Affleck joke of the day - In Affleck's version of Batman, his parents kill themselves out of shame.

Enyawd72, I like the urban legend aspect of Batman where Gotham City is officially denying his existence and Bruce does all he can to keep himself undercover for early in Batman's career.

Snyder and Goyer and Affleck, if he works on the story, can use that idea but have the emergence of Superman as the catalyst for Batman coming out of the shadows of Gotham to check this alien out.

Which once Batman and Superman get on the same page could inspire Aquaman to come up from the depths and Wonder Woman testing the footing of the man's world newly empowered Barry Allen to put on a red and yellow running suit and so on for a JLA movie

I think not knowing who/what Batman really is would truly make him the boogeyman he's always been meant to be.
Of course a few people could be in on it, Gordon for example, but his existence would be a myth to the general public.
Absolutely! I think it makes alot of sense. It's the same issue the Phantom has in his world. It's hard to imagine anyone thinking he is the same guy for each generation if you can see him up close and in broad daylight all the time. But in Batman's situaiton, I think it would have to be more of a group effort as portrayed in the Dark Knight series. One man could never do this alone.

I would never show the exposed part of his face to criminals either...he would always appear in silhouette to them, with only his eyes showing. Make that sucker SCARY.

Yep, and hear me out on this...I'd take it a step further even. IMO, Batman should exist ONLY in the shadows, with the mystery about exactly who/what he is left intact. His whole schtick is scaring people into thinking he's a giant bat right? So once you KNOW it's just a guy in a bat costume, why would anyone still fall for that? To me he should be like an urban legend, with his very existence called into question. THAT would make him scary to run into. Think of him as an urban Bigfoot. As it was once said about Dracula..."the strength of the vampire is that people will NOT believe in him.

So if Affleck and Damon - Elysium is pretty good by the way - are Batman and Robin, Kevin Smith as Penguin and Jason Mewes as Joker?

Might make a good YouTube or Kimmel skit.

Not true. I'm very particular about what I like yes and quite often I feel these projects fall short.
But you know, I've reached the point in my comic book life where I just don't care anymore.
That's not to say I'm still not interested in my four color heroes but I've definitely lost a lot of passion
and fervor when it comes to these things. I feel burned out.

Super-heroes and DC in general, Batman and Superman in particular have been "my thing" for about 40 years
now but I think I've lost the fire so to speak. The characters in any of their current incarnations
(comics, TV, movies, toys) haven't represented my interpretations of them in quite some time.
In print it was the New 52 that was the straw that broke this camel's back. In film it's been seeing
WB/DC lose ground to Marvel again and again, under utilizing characters that have been marquee
household names for 75 years. And yet Rocket Racoon will be on the big silver screen before
Wonder Woman or Aquaman or the Flash or the freakin' Martian Manhunter for crissakes.

The most fun I've had with DC heroes in a long time now was last night. My daughter and I
cracked open the Lego Batman 2 wii game we've had since XMas. It may seem simple and basic
but those are the closet I've felt to Superman, Batman, Robin, et al in a long time.

That's why I just don't care too much about Affleck's casting. Personally I think he'll do
ok. And if he doesn't, I'm not so sure that's "my" Batman anyway. And at this point I'm really not
sure I'll ever see him again. That ship may have sailed...
