I recall a time when Spider-Man's real costume was destroyed/stolen or something, and he had to go into battle in a cheap Halloween version. It kept coming off, he even had to web his boots up. Now he walks over to his walk-in closet "Hmm...do I feel like white today? Maybe black? Hows about Halo Exo-Suit?"

    Hmmmm....

I think the new print techniques available for comics is a mixed blessing. Over the last decade or so, the available techniques, colours and overall improved technical quality to the art allows the cartoonist a lot more in terms of what they can do. Unfortunately, I think this instills a tendency to overdo it, hence the weird, overwrought Warhammer 40K-esque designs.

I'm now convinced that both companies are trying to come up with as many alternate versions of their main characters as possible to get it on record so we don't see another "Image" fiasco where they take existing characters, do a few minor tweaks, give it an obvious name, and put them in stories straight from the headlines.

I swear that has got to be what they are doing...it's got to be...

THAT is Doc Ock? I am so glad I gave up on Marvel a long time ago. Not that I still read DC anymore for that matter. Gave up on them last year. What a bunch of junk.

I don't see that much difference with Mysterio. Doc Ock may look interesting, but he doesn't seem to fit in well with the rest of the designs. Like they went too far with him.

Looks like some of DC's pointless redesigns have rubbed off on the House of Idea(s).

Is this a reaction to DC's new 52?

I was hoping Marvel would kneejerk in response.
