It was Horrible , Rushed when it was addressed , unreadable Nonsense. The Only thing Dragged, was Bruce being gone for so long.

Yeah dragged....it took way too many issues to tell this story, and it wasn't that great and compelling of a narrative IMO. But I understand what you're saying...each portion seemed a bit half-assed as far as having a linear flow to it.

I just found out recently that Morrison had written some Doctor Who. But of course they were both the Doctors that I am pretty unfamiliar with. Still not completely understanding the Penguin even though it's been explained to me that it's not simply typical Morrison nuttiness.

Yeah, Morrison mined the Bat-stories most fans dismiss. I appreciate him taking a somewhat novel approach, but Steve Engelhart did a legendary run in the 70s where he mined the earliest Batman stories, and when he was done he put the toys away where he found them. Can't do that with Morrison's run without a major reset or a Bobby Ewing shower moment.

Y'know, I just noticed that Batman had a DALEK in the Scifi closet. Awesome.

Although when you think about it... Damian is torn right out of that tradition of "imaginary" Batman stories where he has some kind of problem with his child (Superman as well had a number of those, sometime both of them at once).

And it does come straight out of Mike Barr's Son of the Demon as well.

Remember the ones where Dick becomes Batman? The only thing that is significantly different is that serious undertone that Batman seems to need thiese days, but you can clearly see Morrison often has his tongue firmly planted in cheek while playing it straight camp. But with Pirate Batman and such, it's very difficult not ot.








My prediction for Batman Leviathan....


Other than that, he's pretty much emptied out the 50's of all it's trappings.

^ I really don't mind that aspect of Morrison's run on Batman....I like the nods and winks to history...I just don't care for Damian and the whole R.I.P./Final Crisis/Return of Bruce Wayne was too dragged out IMO...

Pretty much sums up the genesis of much of Morrison's run and how he approaches Batman since making that statement.



As Adam West, Dick Sprang and the recent Brave and Bold cartoon have show, there is room for multiple interpretations of Batman and I'm finding the wild inventiveness of going back to that 50's stuff kind of refreshing. I have no doubt that there are enough grim and gritty "street" Bat titles for fans of that stuff to not have to read Morrison's run.

Funnily enough though, I really think Morrison's Batman also owes quite a bit to Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams more globetrotting James Bond style Batman.

Nightwing had the red suit or something in a few issues of something a while back ... DCU Classics even made an exclusive figure of Him in the suit that was a TRU Only figure.

Not really a fan of the red myself ...

However I feel interested in picking the book up ... I enjoy Borrows Pencils quite a Bit ..., He did some Blackest Night stuff I dug, and some Teen Titans stuff I liked.

I'll most Definately be there for Batgirl ..., Probably Batman & Detective...
I am reading the Finch Batman book Now ..., I got the 1st 2 issues... 1st issue was dated Jan ..., 2nd is dated May ... This is either a 5 Month book ,.. or it's already behind, or something... But From the 1st 2 issues, I like it alot, and it's the 1st Batman Book I've enjoyed in like 5 years ..., With the Exception of Red Robin.

so did i waste my time with this story line, where Bruce begins to form a league of Batmen? why bother to put us threw this crap. We fans deserve to see a story reach its conclusion. The only good thing, is that I hope the reboot wipes away Morrison's contrived and lackluster story line.

^ No Batman Inc. is going on hiatus after issue 11...to give Grant Morrison more time to work on other stuff he's had back-burnered....it will return in 2012 for 12 issues (with a new #1) to tie up Morrison's run on all of the Batman titles.

I loved Morrison's JLA (esp the first several arcs) and really liked All-Star Superman. But his Batman work has rubbed me all kinds of wrong.

Ditto! Fan of his Animal Man and Doom Patrol runs too...But his recent DCU stuff, not so much...

and being a fan of the 50's Batman stuff and a bigger fan of the Adam West TV show I dig it and get what he is doing. Batman and Robin especially had the flavor of the old show mixed with an angry little Robin playing the bad cop to Dick's good cop. I've read enough grim and gritty Batman for my lifetime and like to see something more inventive done with the characters
