^Yeah, that'd be a good "out". I can imagine him dissolving into a pile of goo or something. Maybe Morrison will do that in homage to the demise of the Super-Sons by Denny O'Neil.

There's always a fail-safe they could use with Damian...Could he possibly be a clone of Bruce created by Ra's Al Ghul to f'with him and not an actual son?Leave a comment:

Engelhart and Rogers?Morrison's Batman is the best version of the character since Adams & O'Neil. It's just that simple.
Grant and Breyfogle?
Barr and Davis?
Chuck Dixon?
Jim Aparo?
I must be overly-complicated, because I'm not getting simple here.
To me, Damien is like the kid in Superman Returns. Good idea for a one-shot, but not for an ongoing story. The idea of Batman and Talia's kid being out there somewhere is more powerful than bringing him in as psycho killing machine, and then saying "okay, now you're Robin". I don't think I'd mind the character as much if Morrison and company hadn't just had Dick overlook his psychosis and put him in the costume. Does he not remember Jason Todd? Jean Paul Valley? Heck, Danny Chase!
I appreciate Morrison's "mad genius". He's come out of left field on most of this stuff. But the application, and the permanence of it is what I don't like, and I just can't get into.

Actually surprised Damian's the only kid floating around, papa was a rolling stone. I knew eventually Dick would go back or quit or whatever. Am looking forward to the father/son stories. I can't think of another sidekick that was a son, usually it was a nephew or some poor orphan kid.Leave a comment:

I am Actually Not Upset over Damian .
I like the Character, .. when He showed up in Teen Titans. I get the Idea of him being a Jerk ... Lots of kids in the Family.
I just hate Dick as Batman .... and the Kinda Throwing Tim over here, and there to make room for the character.
... Seems like readers Everywhere are paying the price for Bruce's "Batarang" Mistakes of love.

a "son of the Demon" showed up in Kingdom Come as well. Pesonally I'm glad someone picked up on Batman's fling with Talia.Leave a comment:

I think this one has much potential...

Anyone else dig Warren Ellis and John Cassady's Batman/Planetary? Basically a love letter to all the different eras and incarnations.

You guys honestly don't think they can't kill Damian at a moments notice and get back to the regular Batman status quo like we're seeing over at Marvel with Bucky-Cap?
Get Tim out of the Bird Suit and back into the cave and you've pretty much got it all back again... particularly with Babs back as Batgirl. Heck, Kathy Kane is Batwoman again after disappearing for a good half century!
It really is the illusions of change more than anything else when you think about it.Leave a comment:

Ya know, I think if DC had kept "Hypertime" (a Morrison invention, no?) things would have been much easier...People like Morrison could play in the sandbox the way they wanted to and it wouldn't have to screw up things for everyone else. All stories could have happened at one time or another, and the DC Multiverse would have been a much richer place.Leave a comment:

Maybe we should blame Mike W. Barr for writing "Son of the Demon" in the first place, giving Morrison fodder for the Damian character...Yeah, Morrison mined the Bat-stories most fans dismiss. I appreciate him taking a somewhat novel approach, but Steve Engelhart did a legendary run in the 70s where he mined the earliest Batman stories, and when he was done he put the toys away where he found them. Can't do that with Morrison's run without a major reset or a Bobby Ewing shower moment.Leave a comment:

I only have to assume you're joking.
