First comics you bought , what got you hooked.

I've been reading comics as long as i could read starting with the peter pan FF and batman reprints. I can vividyl remember reading a hardback of of 50's batman stories in the back of the roadmaster in 76 when I was 4

Not sure which one I bought first. One of my best friends had a huge collection of Amazing-Spiderman comics and he was really nice about letting me borrow them. I did take really good care of his comics, would read them and promptly return them. He basically let me borrow whatever I wanted so I didn't have a huge need to run out and buy any.

One of the first Superhero comics I got was this one - probably at some point in the 70s - probably from a road trip in one of those bagged 3-packs. This one stands out because I thought it was so creepy. The date is '74, but there's no way I had it from that year because I would have been too young.:



Again, Marvel really sucked me into superhero comics around '82.

The earliest one I remember I need some help with: I was 4 or 5 (circa 1970, then) abd souldn read but could rcognioze letters and pick out words, It must have been an issue of Justice League, probably a JLA/JSA team up because I remember being confused by what I thought was Robin's costume, which looking back, now realize might have been Dr. Mid-Nite. I seem to remmber the action taking place on the moon, and the heroes like Batman wearing space suits . . . anybody have a thought on the issue?

Aside from that, these are all ones I clearly remember picking up at the drugstore and reading over and over for years aftetr . . . I could quote pages for you from memory still:

...it was Little Lulu...

My uncle bought Little Lulu, and my mom bought my Casper and Wendy, (although I can't remember which came first).

Good question. I can't be sure which was 1st, but I do recall my dad buying ma a giant Tarzan comic & well remember Superman vs Hercules. Must've read each one 20 times.

This was the book that really got me hooked though...used to take this out of my Elementary School Library for weeks on end:

Me too! I still have my copy, it's more worn out than a family Bible. I wasn't a regular buyer of comics as a kid, more random pickups, mostly Batman and treasuries.

The comic that got me serious into comics when I was a teenager, I started buying X-Men back issues hardcore:

First it were these two back around '68.., my Dad got me these when I was home sick one day, with a few others..:




Then it was these two that really started the ball rolling..!!

I'm pretty sure GI Joe ARAH was what got me hooked on comics as a kid, although I wasn't able to get the issues in order back then.

Some other random comics my dad happened to give me helped. I remember owning some Archie digests, DC Blue Ribbon Digests (the one where the Justice League picks their members on the cover was pretty scary with mixed DC stories of Hex, Sgt. Rock, etc.) I don't know the numbers but I also recall being given a Marvel comics of Iron Man fighting spores and an Incredible Hulk issue where the Absorbing Man was in it and Banner was trapped in a tunnel. This is all from memory from the 3rd grade (or something) so I'm kind of fuzzy about some of the details.

I should add that over the following weeks/months, I also bought many of the Bat comics that came before this going back to about 390. Loved back issue bins back then. I never did get Batman 406 which was Year One part 3. But I have the collected book so it doesn't matter.

I already had comic books, but the first one I bought from a store with "my own" money was Batman 408. I went down with the kid next door to the comic book store. He said now was a good time to start collecting regularly. I had heard from him about Crisis etc and read Batman Year One at his house.
