I read the EW article, too, and it was the writer's opinion that the suit was outdated not Snyder or Cavil's — or at least it wasn't attributed to them — so maybe we'll get lucky and Snyder use something close to Reeve's or close to the comic.
I always thought the belt was the weak point of the costume. It looked plastic to me in 1978 and still does.

Yeah, I cringed a little when I read that Entertainment Weekly article.Leave a comment:

I think he looks great. He needs to thin his eyebrows out a bit though. I liked Reeves boots they were more believable than him wearing socks IMO.Leave a comment:

Well, according to Entertainment Weekly, he wore a replica of the Chris Reeve costume for his screen test. And he nailed it and everyone believed him, and no one laughed at him, which made director Zack Snyder know he had his man. The gist was that the suit was outdated and if he could pull it off in that old thing, he was the right guy.
Now, I am a firm believer in the fact that not everyone can play these characters convincingly, but what is outdated about that costume? It didn't look like pantyhose (like Adam West's Batman costume did, honestly), the colors were right, the cape was right...? I don't get the need to cloth an invulnerable being in a costume that looks like it's made from football leather. Routh's rubber cape looked way too heavy, like there was no way it would flow correctly as Superman flew through the breeze.
The one element of Reeve's costume that wasn't dead-on his comic book look was the boots. They were a bit higher and more leathery looking than what the comics normaly depicted. But then again the comics up to that point made them often look like socks. So the boots were a little more open for interpretation.
So how can it be outdated? Why does Hollywood have to reinvent EVERYTHING? If it ain't broke...
I hope they don't go too far afield from tradition here. Routh's suit was far enough away. At least get the colors right for pete's sake! I think this guy has potential to be a great Superman. Don't muck it up with a crappy wardrobe!

Cody Rhodes would make an awesome Robin I think. Maybe even Nightwing. But he's too tiny as Superman. Maybe Conner-Superboy? Although everytime I see AJ Styles I think "There's your Superboy!"
That being said, I remember hearing rumors of The Rock being possibly cast as Black Adam. THAT would be awesome.
If there is a wrestler that looks the part of SuperMAN, I doubt he's made it big yet.Leave a comment:

Nah... not Superman.
Randy Orton IS Namor!
I was actually digging Batista as a possible Superman for a while. You know, for a a big man Superman. Plan on using a Jakks figure as a custom at some point.

Batista as Supes? Ah......hell no...over my dead body...lol.
Actually...I think Cody Rhodes would make a much better Superman than that Neanderthal Batista...
Full shot...
