^^^ Looks like they had the electric Supes emblem before DC did.

Man, that pic is crazy stupid. I rememebr the giant robot spider thing, but I thought the following was the Burton/Cage verison. Equally stupid.

I'm all for new and fresh. New and massively dumb, no thanks.

*Update*...Goyer being hired to write the Script is just a rumor.

Although with Nolan in charge...I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign on.

Well... just remember we nearly got "something new" about ten years ago.

    Nicholas Cage as SuperScissorhands.

    Fighting a Giant Robot Spider.

It would be cool if they could find somebody more in the George Reeves mold who could pull off the Clark/Supes roles equally well and look like he's having fun smashing thru walls, crushing tommy guns and clunking thug noggins together.

    Exactly.
Make Lois and crew a little less prominent and have a SUPERMAN movie.
Tons of Superman scenes where he's being, well, super!

I'd actually like to see a LARGE man play Superman.

Although there are many opinions regarding Frank Quietly's rendering, the man did make me believe that Superman could have a huge body builder look, and Clark could have a doughy look, all in how he positioned his posture.

Given we're going back to a John Byrne era, his Superman was visually different in that he had that Marvel big-superhero, big muscle look.

I'm sure with enough time a casting director can find a large man who can act. Not all body builders have to be Arnold or Sly.

    Agreed 100 percent.

I say hire another unknown for the role. Surely somewhere on this earth is an actor around 30-ish, tall and built who can pull this off. Routh was a good Supes, but his performance will always be equated with Singer's syrupy melodramatic film regardless of his quality work. They need to break away from Reeves/Reeve worship and forget Smallville was ever made. Forget the name Richard Donner, Dean Cain and that talentless guy who played Superboy.

I welcome this film if they can do something new.

Except that going back to read Byrne's run, it actually feels kind of dated in an eighties kind of sense. I never felt that Byrne's Clark-as-Yuppie concept ever really jelled into any kind of distinguishable character... although I guess that was kind of the point to try and do away with the duality between Clark and Superman.

I'm surprised the Goyer isn't steering closer to his former JSA writing partner Geoff Johns' take on the Man of Steel given how enjoyable Superman Origin has been in cherry picking the best moments of the past rather than rebooting into something else.
