    The Penguin Discussion Thread

    *I'm Sorry, Scott*

I realize that this is not the Penguin anyone ordered. Honestly, I watched the first episode assuming I'd flee faster than I did when Dr. Who fought the Booger Monsters. I liked "The Batman" OK, but it didn't make me want to explore its universe in any meaningful way.

However, I couldn't stop watching it. It's an outstanding television show.

I'm sure it references modern Batman comics, but I haven't regularly consumed comics in over 25 years. So to me, it's just a compelling story set in a fictional city.

I'm only one episode in, but my wife and I are hooked.

    Betrayed!

    Actually, I haven't seen The Batman , so I can't opine even a little.

I'm glad it's interesting in its own right.

Going to rewatch "Hizzoner the Penguin" now and harrumph, excuse me.

As a Riddler fan, trust me, it did nothing for that character for me either.

I watched the first episode and thought it was good and will continue to, very "sopranos". People are praising the actress playing Sophia Falcone.

I like it so far. The performances are great! Colin Ferrell really is outstanding in this. Really is worth watching. Although I can see why this would not appeal to some. But I’m weak minded and easy.

It's a fantastic series so far through 2 episodes, but it does help to set it aside as something separate or different. Colin is doing a great job portraying the OZ/Penguin character (fast thinking, clever, intelligent albeit cruel at the same time.) Any yes, it does have a Sopranos type undertone which I like.

As a rule I don't like mobster movies or shows. Never watched The Sopranos. I know, I know. I liked The Batman WAY more than I thought I would. It's really well done. Would I rather have a little more fun in a world with a guy running around in a bat-suit? Yes. But its' well done.

But I'm hooked on The Penguin. As others have said, it's just good TV.

I would like for batman movies to go back to more fantastic and comic book elements like batman forever because they already had the grounded in realism from Nolan and The Joker movie but that being said I did enjoy The Pattinson Batman and this show so far. There's a rumor this will be the main batman in Gunn's new universe I hope not and hope it's stays within it's own thing.

Man, this series continues to enthrall. I have no idea where things are going for Oz. If he makes it out of this series alive, I will be surprised. Batman may have to show up to save him (and I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen)!
