They are suppose to show how he became General Zod.

I will say that they did have his army "Kneel Before Zod" and Paul was the first person I thought of.

Since Smallville is set in the past...I'd say, he has yet to be "promoted".

I did catch the episode. I didn't really care for Major Zod and his army (none of whom have Clarks powers). I didn't get who the lady that came back with Lois from the future was and why she was trying to kill Clark. Oliver is having a pity party and has given up being Green Arrow. Chloe ask Clark to do somthinge he won't and now she's ****ed at him. And next week John Corbin becomes Metallo. Fun stuff.

Friday's are bad for me. I guess I really need to get a DVR. I am a huge fan, knew it was on , was even watching the clock and got distracted a few minutes before it started so I missed the first 5-10 minutes of it!!! I came in just as Clark saved the train car.
Probably didn't miss too much but hate missing anyhting, especially the beginnings of episodes where they recap and then set up the current one.

I was planning on watching the premiere (Metallo interested me) but I opted for the re-cast of the "Flash Forward" premiere instead....

There was a time, I too was enamored with this show but that love faded around the third season....

I actually forgot about the premiere last night until it was too late to set up my recorder. At one time I would have locked all the doors, turned off the lights, had the phone company disconnect my number, and faked my death so no one could bother me to watch the Smallville season premiere. Goes to show how much this show has fallen out of favor with me.

That being said, I would like to see it,to see if they have course-corrected some what. I wonder if they will re-air it? Will the CW put it up online?

    Smallville is great

Sure there have been some cheesy episodes, and others that should have simply not been made, but I am proud to say that I have seen every single one. From the start Smallville has always been an elseworlds approach and I am very cool with that. I say bring on this season, and another if possible. Don't put Tom in the red and blue until the series final show.

I hate the fact they have it on Fridays now. What's wrong with Thursdays?

I haven't bothered to find the pic that this thread is about and it wouldn't really matter anyway. This show is almost the equivalent of an Elseworld's Superman anyway so why not accept it for that and enjoy it for what it is? It's still a great show with solid actors (for the most part) and characters. If they do eventually put Tom in the super-suit I would be ecstatic and a little disappointed if that didn't occur at least as the very last shot in the very last episode of the series but I would still enjoy the show even if that never happens. How many shows really have lasted as long as this one anyway? 9 years is nothing to be ashamed of.

^ The sad thing is they're already shooting for that "magical" 10th season....the shark they jumped is so far behind them now it's just a dot on the horizon to them.....

In defense of the producers of the show, I think they are limited in what they can do by the film division of Warners. I don't think Warners wants a true Superman show on TV right now. It would compete with their desire (and now need, thanks to the Siegel lawsuit) to re-reboot the Superman film franchise.

So Smallville is essentially neutered. When it started out, Clark was a teenager, and several years away from putting on the costume in many versions of the story (discounting tales of Superboy). So there was no worry of getting into the timeframe of any movie WB would make. Now they've run 9 seasons, the cast is WAY beyond passing for high school kids, and they've painted themselves into this very odd corner.

Without the clearance to go full-on into a Superman show, the series should have honestly been canceled by now. It's still enjoyable on several levels, but it's honestly at the point now, I am more annoyed by what they can't and won't do, then what I'm seeing on screen.

Wanna be edgy? Put him in the red and blue suit! Change things up and go old school, like this:

    Yeah. That's the stuff.
Yes, that is my Superman. No substitutes or bad "we don't read comics but like cheesy rehashed characters in grim and dirty outfits" audience made for TV shows!
