Ideally, I'd love it if it was Spidey taking Norman down once and for all, in public. Been waiting for that since they brought Norman back (healing factor? Are you kidding me?) way back when.
Still, if/when Cap comes back, it should be triumphant, like you said - the Marvel Universe right now is most depressing and dark, and Cap's return should be the kick in the keister to get the heroes morale up again.
As for Quesada, as a writer, he's a good artist! Anytime Joe gets an idea in his head, somebody should give him a cookie and send him on his way so the writers can do their freakin' jobs.

Bah. Too logical. It would've used established, in continuity, SHIELD tech, and would've supposed that Fury anticipated an assassination attempt on someone's part, and would've smuggled the real Cap out after his arrest. It would also have lead to several exciting stories of Cap's life undercover, maybe setting the stage for Norman Osborn's ultimate fall after Dark Reign, before taking up his shield and costume again in a triumphant return.
No, better the bullets-that-alter-time-and-relative-dimensions-in-space. Doctor Who swears by 'em. You can get 'em at your local gun shop, next to the amnesia bullets from the Wolverine film.
All this talk of bullets of late has me wondering if Marvel's been co-opted by the NRA.
I wonder if Cap will be the one to take out Normy and set things back right in the MU. It would have been a more dramatic reveal to have him triumphantly show up in Osborne's SHIELD office and kick his arse, tho. You'd think Quesadilla and company would have learned from the mess they made of Spidey with the "cosmic continuity fix" they wouldn't have gone this route with Cap.Leave a comment:

I trust Brubaker to give us a good story and he has 4 more issues for this to make sense. However, after reading Reborn #1, I just felt like the Red Skull and crew went to a lot of trouble ... to do what? OK, Steve is "unstuck" in time. Sharon is the "constant". Sounds like Desmond and Penny. Kind of cool. We'll get some great visuals if Cap visiting different parts of his life.
Right now the story comes off as some crazy rube goldberg machine that I can't see the end of.Leave a comment:

Yeah something along those lines....not sure why he was "saved" by the Red Skull but I'm sure we'll find out....

I like Bucky Cap. Like him even more after reading Cap #600 and Reborn #1. On the lame side.Leave a comment:

Soooooooooo, let me get this straight - The Steve Rogers we saw shot WAS Steve Rogers? And the Red Skull, in effect, "saved" him by pulling him from the past and placing him in he present where he is technically "stuck"? Did I get that right?

I'm a little disappointed they pulled Bryan Hitch from the Fantastic Four finale issue for this.
As awesome as it is, we've already seen his widescreen WW2 Captain America already. I'm hoping they make better use of Hitch if this is going to be a "stuck in time" scenario.
It doesn't change the fact that I want to see Hitch drawing the FF kicking the Marquis' butt after all that build-up to it.Leave a comment:

I figured it would be revealed that the Cap killed was a Life Model Decoy from SHIELD and the real Steve was hanging out with Nick Fury somewhere.Leave a comment:

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed...this is the best idea they could come up with? Why not just have Mephisto erase everyone's memories and change...oh.
I expected better from Ed Brubaker...I think he's just got too much on his plate right now and he's wearing thin on creativity. Of course, he could also just be following Quesada's dictates. Either way, a convoluted spy switcheroo plot ala Shield would have played out better than a time travel scenario.Leave a comment:

So he's lost in time? not dead? and is in his old body? Just checking I understand the horible storyLeave a comment:

So...what'd everyone think of issue #1? I felt like I was reading/watching a rehash of an episode from LOST.

Talk about a non-event eh? Just goes to show you can't go out and manufacture something like this. Usually it has more to do with a slow news day when it comes to grabbing headlines in the mainstream. Or if you are going to crank up the hype machine, it had better be worth it to the fans given that Steve Rogers coming back eventually wasn't going to be any kind of surprise to a jaded audience who has seen everyone from Jean Grey to Bucky to Aunt May to Superman to Hal Jordan to Jason Todd to Barry Allan die and come back.
Did anyone actually go to the comic shop on Monday to pick up Cap #600?Last edited by samurainoir; Jun 16, '09, 11:05 PM.Leave a comment:

I'm with MIB41 - Betcha it was a SHIELD LMD (Life Model Decoy) of Cap that got whacked, so Steve could go undercover and expose the Red Skull or HYDRA or something.Leave a comment:
