I will wait for more solid info before I get excited. for 20 years we had reports of a new Superman and ended up with Superman returns (Which I like but it isn't great)
Like the light up emblem on the costume. I think it would be a cool if its glow reflected the amount of power left in the rings charge....would give the audience a way of tracking Hal's power, and could be used to great effect during the inevitable climactic battle scene!
Cant wait to see what they actually do with this property. It certainly has all the attributes necessary for a cool film...and best of all....Jack Black is no where in site!
That Suit design is not bad! Pretty faithful...it only has a slight Bodyarmor look about it!
I wouldn't mind that suit at all. A hybrid between the classic Gil Kane Hal costume and Jim Lee's redesign of Kyle Rayner.
For some reason, a GL movie trailer structured around the actor reciting the oath has always been stuck in my head. How cool would it be to be sitting in a theater and out of nowhere hear "In brightest day..."
You pretty much summed up my take on it as well, Lou. There have been very few Superhero movies in the last 10 years that I haven't enjoyed. Yeah, I didn't like the Nick Nolte father thing in the first Hulk, but I enjoy the movie. I thought both FF movies were excellent. Daredevil I wasn't thrilled about, but that was more about the acting and it being a bit boring. The Punisher film was kind of rough as well, but all that said, I still enjoy watching them.
It's easy to get wrapped up in accuracy if you've read he comics, but there have been so many tellings and re-tellings of characters and their origins that there is a lot of room for creative interpretation. I try to go into these films just hoping they can capture the feel of the universe the characters were written in. It's not easy living up to decades of previous comic book history, and capture that character in 2 hours.
Yeah Dave, great points. As far as the comic book accuracy thing; well, people need to realize that you are essentially cramming 50 years of history and "re-tellings", as you accurately put it, into a two hour movie. So what should result? Bit and pieces from several decades of a character's history all weaved into one coherent story. Sometimes this may even require outright altering a particular plot point...
I too hear complaints about comic book accuracy and these very same people rave about Batman Beyond! Ummm, OK...
Back on topic though; I do think GL would make a great movie. I've always envisioned his green energy field around him as he flies over the city at night in "live-action" (are we still allowed to use that word these days!) LOL!!
By the way Dave, I just remembered I owe you an e-mail! Sorry my friend!
