...Wildfire!
My favorite Legionnaire and one of my top five favorite DC characters, I got my first introduction to Wildfire in June of 1980 with issue #264. From then on I tried to make it a point to follow his adventures with The Legion but, my source for comic books back then didn’t regularly carry the title. So, I have picked up back issues here and there over the years.
Back when I first took an interest in customizing in 2011, I started by compiling a list of customs that I want to try and complete, Wildfire was in the top ten but, I knew he would be a challenge due to a lack of key components because of his lower popularity quotient. As luck would have it I found a Wildfire head that was being sold on eBay last year and thus one key component had been obtained. I got too immersed in my other custom projects last year and never got around to looking into body suit options. Flash forward to May of this year and I caught the Magnificent Austin Hough’s printed suit pre-order deal for Mego Meet and while looking through his offerings I spotted a Wildfire pattern. Upon my return home from Skokie, I had my second key component.
And, now that he is finished I can share the results with the community.
Wildfire’s parts are:
Head: Cast from mr-scary1 on eBay, paints by me
Body: Doc’s swivel bicep
Bodysuit: Printed suit by the Magnificent Austin Hough, sewn together by my wife, Cindy
Boots & Gloves: Doc
Belt: CTVT
Box: Designed and assembled by me
As always, thank you all for stopping by and giving him a look.
Enjoy!
John
