I've seen the original several times. I saw the first director's cut in the theatre right when it got released hoping it would fix all the things I didn't like and blow my mind.
My roommate got the new super-duper box set for Christmas, so I saw the new and improved director's cut version, and I re-watched the original version again.
I think you're totally right - the original version with Ford's narration is the best one. For one thing I like Harrison Ford, and the director's cuts all have less of him - the other problem is that the narration helps make sense of the plot and adds a lot of details to the setting. I don't like the twist ending they try for in the director's cut version either, very cheesy in my opinion.Leave a comment:

Great! And you even got the Tie right!
Meanwhile, the latest cut (The Blu-Ray definitive/whatever version) is exceptional. No more wires holding the ship, some new footage, just awesome.
I actually LOVE the movie. The pacing, the vibe, everything.Leave a comment:

Wow - absolutely fantastic job!. Every detail looks great!
I'm with spiderrogue about the movie though. I think what annoys me about it is that it's an amazing looking film about interesting ideas but nothing in movie compels me. The plot and character's are a real let-down in keeping me excited. If it looked like crap or it had simple ideas I wouldn't care enough about it to really dislike it - but because it's got a lot of things going for it that interest me it really bugs me to watch it.
Did you & Matt watch the "Directors Cut"(with all of Ford's voice-over narration cut)....or the original release? Because the Directors cut SUCKS...and totally ruins the Movie!
