While "Free advise, is worth what you pay for it." "A good idea, is worth it's weight in GOLD!" Thank you!I used the wings from one of these. They're hard plasic, but the are molded to look like feathers.

I really like your wing design - they look sharp. I echo the comments about mounting them lower, but I was also wondering - is there a thinner foam you could use? Perhaps you could give them depth by cutting some of the wing sections and layering them. The matching rivet will help too, but are there smaller ones that would work?Leave a comment:

Your action wings are great! The kid in me loves the play factor they would give. And the grown-up me really appreciates the skill it took to construct them.Leave a comment:

The wings aren't actually attached yet. When I put them on with a screw, I'm definitely going to lower them. Thanks for the compliment!Leave a comment:

I really dig the folding wings. They have a really great retro feel to them.Leave a comment:

Hawkman - which wings?
What an incredible job you did with that awesome looking Hawkman. Great concept with your own wing design. Is there anyway that your wing design can sit abit lower on his back? 5 Stars

Mike, sorry if I was off on the direction you are going for. 'Superfriends' not Filmation. Reading too many different Hawkman posts. Got a little confused.
I know this has nothing to do with the Superfriends design, but something inside me wonders how he would look with some Conan bracelets?

Thanks for the great comments and ideas. I've got a second head ordered from Austin, so I'm going to make one Hawkman with the foam wings (cut apart for movement) and another with the acrylic wings. I'll post pics when I'm done.Leave a comment:

Very cool Hawkman Jerry68.
Insipired by Flatt in the 1990s, I made a Hawkman with balsa wood wings with a similar joint like the second pair, but glued actual feathers from Hobby Lobby on the balsa wood. It looked OK, but someone with actual talent could probably make something really cool with a similar process.Leave a comment:

I like the "action feature" of the riveted wings. If you are worried about the flatness, could you heat them and apply a little bend to them? (Right now I'm having a flashback of making a plastic picture frame in 8th grade shop class...)Leave a comment:

Personally I like the foam wings. Their shape and design go well with the enlarged Superpowers Hawkman head.
Since you are going for a Filmation look, are you considering a "Skreel" and green with red talons 'Hawk-Claw' for his right hand?Last edited by dr_cyclops; May 24, '12, 9:14 PM.Leave a comment:
