Another Source For Heads?

Austin, MegoWGSH, enlarged and cast the McFarlane X-Files heads for me a few years back. You can get Scully and Mulder in Mego-head scale from him. Scully will have sculpted hair but she always had short hair anyway. They look really good.Leave a comment:

I had posted pics before, but there are vintage dolls called "Leggy" that have Mego-sized heads. Some of their clothes and shoes fit, but due to their tiny bodies and exaggeratedly long legs, it's kind of hit or miss. The only downside is that they have rather large eyes. They work for some stylized characters. I haven't tried repainting their eyes yet, but it's a possibility. I have gotten them for decent prices in eBay lots.

They are all over my stores. I may pick up a few but not too many. They look kind of "dolly". Maybe redoing the eyes or something would fix it.Leave a comment:

They work for me, but I'd definitely welcome an alternative. I've found a few that are in scale, but the eye paint is always way off. It's hard to remove it and repaint it without frizzing the hair.Leave a comment:

We need a good source for adult sized heads.
Maybe pool our money, and contract a company in China to do one to spec?
Just kidding.

Yea, it's a little small to replace an adult female head but it works fine on a teen sized body. The black haired one is what I used for my Wonder Girl and it fit fine.I got the cake topper heads at my local Michael's and with a bit of surgery in the neck hole, it goes onto the neck post.
Problem? It seems a little too small to be credible.
I measured a DocMego head next to it, and the DM head is somewhat larger than the cake topper.
This type of head would probably work for a Dawn doll replacement, but not a Mego.
It looks freakishly small to me.Leave a comment:

I finally found the set with the redhead in it. $10.00 with shipping isn't too bad.Last edited by Toyman_Chris; Jan 22, '12, 11:01 PM.Leave a comment:

I asked Doc once why he didn't try for different hair colors, and he replied that his manufacturers wanted WAY too much money; for either a color change in skin/paint and/or hair color.Leave a comment:

I wonder why Doc didn't get the female head in other hair colors? There is just as much demand for black hair as there is for blonde with brown and red hair also needed for many customs.Leave a comment:

Doc's blonde head is great, but once you line up SUpergirl, Black Canary and Power Girl beside each other all with the same head....
Not so great.
Has anybody used the Breyer Girl heads? I've been thinking of getting sone Breyer girls for custom fodder. Some first hand info would be great.Leave a comment:
