Read a while ago that Mego was bringing out a Spectre figure. Still waiting, so I took matters into my own hands. Never really liked the lime green color in his costume. God's spirit of wrath should have darker green, so that's what I used. One could argue that a divine entity shouldn't need a costume, but DC' s version of the Almighty has a flair for the dramatic and wants His agents dressed for action. Made on a Trek body. In the comics his boots look like they're made of the same material as his costume, so I made cloth coverings to fit over the boots. Painted the hands green. Made the head, cape and costume. I did post Alan before, but it was when I first joined, and I was stomping through others old postings like a clod. Thought I would repost him here. He looks good in the picture with Spectre, and they are teammates. Made on a Trek body. Made the costume and cape. Painted the boots. Used masking tape carefully painted yellow to make the boot straps. Used a repainted Kirk head, with a lightly glued mask. Just painted a green line on the left hand for the ring. Not at the level where I can make a teensy weensy ring. Essentially a Trek Kirk remade as Alan Scott.

My first exposure to this guy was the Power Record. My folks got me my first record player one Christmas, and knowing what I liked, got me a bunch of Power Records to go with it. I was at that age where I was still too young to buy the comics when they first came out. Fast forward to the 80s, and I was in my mid teens with odd jobs, whose proceeds I spent at the comic shop. In the three for a dollar boxes was the entire series, only about ten years old at the time. Got a good Bronze Age collection pretty cheap that way. Now in my old age, I'm happy to attempt my own custom of the Monster. Built on a Trek body. I left the black pants, painted the boots brown, and the hands grey. Can't see it in the picture, but I painted the fingernails black. Made the shirt. Cut the bear skin vest from an old terrycloth bath towel(washed of course). Made the head myself.

Nothing screams the 70s more than motorcycle daredevil. This guy needed a Mego figure, since they both had the same heyday. The wildest superhero, because he's real. First saw this guy in the 80s when I got his entire comic series in the three for a dollar bin. I was only 8 when he was active. Long before the net, so I had to trust Marvel that he was real. Made the comic much more interesting. Nowadays you can read all about him, and see many videos about him on YouTube. Have seen that he's been done before, but I wanted to try. Couldn't find a head, so I tried my own. A head wrapped in fabric and glued down. I hand painted the lines and face design as best I could with metallic paint. Made the costume. On a Trek body. Painted the boots and hands. Made the cuffs. Put him in a picture with his friend Evel.

Don't know if anybody will like this one. My own fan boy creation. I've always been a Golden Age fan. This includes the Earth Two Superman Kal-L. Became a fan after seeing him in All Star Squadron 36-37, and the first issues of Infinity Inc. He's of course supposed to be Siegal and Shuster's original Golden Age Superman. Long before the net, I bought the reprints in the archive editions, the newspaper strip reprints from Kitchen Sink, and the radio show on cassette and CD. He was technically the version that launched DC and the comics industry, yet he came to a bad end. Beaten to death by that punk Superboy Prime, then turned into a rotten zombie in Blackest Night. Couldn't even get a decent reburial since his body was destroyed in the end. So ,in my fanboy mind, I imagined a scenario where his soul is resurrected by The Presence (DCs version of God) to become a Spectre to guard the Multiverse. This made sense to me since Siegal co created the original Spectre, and this would prevent confusion with the modern Superman. If Power Girl can still be used, why not Kal-L? Imagine him wandering the Multiverse confronting the Nazi Superman of Earth 10, or the one from Injustice. Would be cool stories. Had Mego Parts from lots I bought and a Superman head that needed repainting, so why not Spectreize it. Finally decided to do it after seeing color footage of Superman Day from the 1940 World's Fair on YouTube. I know there was Convergence, but I boycotted DC during the New52. Even though I didn't like his end, I'm going from original continuity. Body is original type 2. Painted the hands and boots green. Used dark green cloth. Kal-L deserves some respect. He should keep watching on all the DC realities. Thanks for reading my rant.

Felt that if any character deserved a Mego, it was this one. The father of the superhero action figure (sorry Mr Abrams) Captain Action. Made on (of course) a Trek body. The head is the generic adventurer from CTVT. The hat and blaster are also from CTVT. Can't hold the blaster. The costume is pieced together by me. The hook for mine is that instead of superheroes, you can turn him into Star Trek characters. Captain Action into Kirk. Retrofitting required for Uhura. Using Trek bodies for my customs, I have alot of leftovers. As an aside, I read that Ideal used the CA molds to make the Knight of Darkness figure. I still have mine. Did some minor restoration. Restring and the foil on his chest. PS, I know alot of people didn't like the head on the original. Is the head supposed to be John Wayne?

To celebrate the new Mego Avengers set, and me finally getting a Thor, I thought I'd post a group picture of my Avengers customs. I was able to re make Cap and Iron Man with original heads and CTVT costumes. They had the Thor boots, hammer and helmet, but no head. The original heads are around sixty bucks, so I wasn't doing that. Used a Pez head and made the costume out of various bodysuits. The head is a little big, but okay for display, since I'm not cutting my new one out of the insert. Completes my WGSH, unless you count Teen Titans. Also included Conan in the Pic, since everyone is saying he obviously can't be remade. Got mine by using the warrior head and parts from CTVT, about a year and a half ago, so he's sort of a custom. Think they're sold out of that now, so I did it in time. Used the twelve inch Hulk in the pic since the Hulk should be well Hulking. The line up is Wonder Man Cap Iron Man Hulk Spidey Ant Man Thor Sam-Cap Vision, and two I haven't posted yet, Black Panther andSENTRY. Spidey and Hulk are the only total originals. Oh and the CTVT Iron Man suit didn't have "the smudge". Thor, Conan and Riddler were the only WGSH I could never get as a kid. I drove my folks nuts at Christmas.

Here are my customs of Koloth and Korax from (TOS) episode, Troubles with Tribbles, one of my favorites.

I thought the original mego Klingon was a close likeness to actor William Campbell, I dressed him in Nu Mego Klingon outfit.

Korax the Klingon who insulted Scotty and said the Enterprise should be hauled away as garbage, was played by actor Michael Pataki. I used the Ivanhoe head on classic tv toys body, with the NuMego Klingon outfit, I had the head upgraded to brown hair.

Bought the new Lincoln Dracula and Frankenstein eight inches awhile ago. While waiting for new ones, I thought I'd try to do the Wolfman and Mummy myself. Like Drac and Frank, they're not exact, but I'm happy with them. Even got Toyroom boxes for them. For Wolfman, I decided to do a plush version. Used a Nu Mego flocked werewolf body and made a fuzzy head. Tried painting in the claws and toenails. Made his brown pajamas. I know the original Mummy was all white, but I thought being buried for thousands of years would dirty the bandages a little. Like the Christopher Lee Mummy. Got grey cloth, cut it into strips, and wrapped and glued it with E600, on a Trek body. Did the same with a head. Made the star eyes and mouth. Think the heads look alot like the art on the boxes. Planning on getting the 3.75 ones when they're available next year.

Something I have been trying to figure out for a bit. I was working on my OG X-men, and Angel was giving me fits on how to do the wings. Here is what I came up with. I 3D printed the back of the figure with a hole I made in Tinkered and a bracket to hold the wings. The wings go on pretty good and are able to move up and down. I 3D printed the wings in TPU for AMS and the back with wing adaptor in ABS. (it is just super glued to the body)
