MEGO IRON MAN
Now we're getting somewhere! Contoured boots and gloves with built in fists of doom! Yet you don't lose the removability of the accessories, which is the great appeal of these toys.
Mego constantly improved their manufacturing techniques on the 8" line and did it as they went along, so each new wave of figures featured something better over the last wave. From the Mego Lizards' fist to Iron's man gloves we saw progress in '75 baby!
Trouble is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Sure he has mittens, but Mego Batman sold into the millions for years, why bother retooling him some gloves? Sad thing is, we didn't notice as kids and even the ones who did (me!), just kept on playing because our Batman gloves were a long faded memory anyways.....
Notes: Note the black painted circles on the sides of the head and pink eyes. The very first iron Man in the Museum did not have those, but rather had a very well-disguised repaint. Oops. The button on his chest is a real button with a sticker in the center.
Iron Man had a shorter than average run with the WGSH, getting in on the action in the 1975 WGSH assortment he was summarily dropped after 1978 so he is almost impossible to find on a regular card. There is no Kresge Card for Iron Man.
Boxed Mego Iron Man
Iron Man is most commonly found boxed, but the packaging is pretty stellar. See the link at the bottom of the page that traces this artwork back to it's origins.
Carded Mego Iron Man

Iron Man is one of the most difficult of "World's Greatest Superheroes" to find carded and easily rests in the top 3 rarest Superhero cards. The above example is graciously provided by Mike J, we'll have more on his amazing adventure to purchase this shortly, stay tuned, you'll be glad you did.
Hombre De Hierro is Lili Ledy's Iron Man, Mexican Style. Think he's cool? what if i told you he's also a fist fighter? thought you'd be impressed.
Iron was released in a wave with Hulk, Tarzan and Falcon in their own store counter display box, very few survived. To learn more about Mego Store displays click on the above pic.
