The Incredible Mego Hulk

MEGO HULK SMASH!

(Didn't see THIS background coming, didjya? )

The Mego Hulk stands slightly under eight inches tall due to the short, squat legs on this body type Mego developed for the Hulk and the mego thing This size disappoints some folks who want the big green guy to tower over their other heroes. It's nonetheless a great Mego with a fine head. Hulk was Mego's "late bloomer" a modest seller at the beginning but when the TV series aired, he became part of Mego's "Big Four" Superheroes.

What sort of machine must they have used to produce his pants? The rips on the legs are always exactly the same...

The Mego Hulk Box is uniqueThe artwork on the Mego Hulk box was also featured on the 1975 Aurora Comic Scenes Model

The Hulk box features a unique diecut and some striking Herb Trimpe artwork on the back panel.(That's my childhood Hulk in the box BTW).

Parkdale Novelty Canada produced Unique cards for their star players Spiderman and Hulk

Two examples of Canadian Mego packaging courtesy BrAin . Above is the Parkdale Novelty Canadian Dual Card usually seen with a black line running through it's address info, Below is Canadian Grand Toys Card, note the fact that both packages feature french and English, not french exclusively. Parkdale Novelty had the distribution rights to the Mego WGSH until 1978 when Grand Toys (a Mego distributor since 1976) wrestled the 8" and 12" heroes away. Mego attempted to buy Grand Toys on two separate occasions but both times outside circumstances killed what was a done deal.

The Hulk on his Grand Toys (Canada) Card, Tracking down Grand Toys cards is difficult due to their brief run with the line, 1979-1981

Palitoy UK Mego Hulk card a beautiful piece and the most affordable one available courtesy of Scott Arendsen. Palitoy didn't market the Hulk as part of their Palitoy Superheroes line He was picked up later and marketed as a stand alone piece, most likely because of the TV Series. UK competitor Denys Fisher did the same thing in the 1979 Catalog with the Comic Action Heroes Hulk.

just the tip of the ice berg when it came to Hulk Merchandise

Hulk was a late starter at Mego but he soon became one of the "Big Four" when it came to Superhero merchandising, this picture is just some of the Hulk merchandise Mego created..

Mego capitilized heavily on the 70's CBS Hulk TV Series

Hulk wasn't much of a seller for Mego until a 1970's Bill Bixby TV series changed everything, the Nicholas Hammond Spiderman series didn't really fly but Mego Spidey didn't exactly have problems selling action figures anyway. This ad is from the Mego Ad Archive.
