Fresh off the mean streets--it's the
Mego Falcon!
There is a minor controversy about the fact that his hands are hairy Mego Planet of the Apes hands. It seems that since they had dark bodies in production for Planet of the Apes, they simply used them for the Falcon too. It saved them time and money, and that is what made Mego successful in the first place. Suffice to say, it wouldn't happen in the Nineties.
Kinda strange, considering the time they spent making these great rubber boots, and a very nice head. He's a good figure, but as token a doll as he was a character. The commercials intone, "...The Falcon, the BLACK Superhero!"
Where the hell is Luke Cage?!
The image is an early piece using scanned figures inserted in backgrounds. I used a photo from a 1965 National Geographic story about NYC. I was going for the "Mean Streets" kind of thing, but he looks like he's trying to hail a cab. Expect new art soon.
