Batgirl
Ka-boom! Thanks for all the suggestions about what to do with Batgirl's background. Had some interesting ones, some requests for pictures based on comic book covers (cool, but that would complicate the whole Museum..), and one suggestion for her to be at home plate in Yankee Stadium. Ultimately, a cool idea came to me walking down the street and here we are.
I enjoyed all the suggestions and input, all of which confirmed that Batgirl is pretty much the most coveted, Top Five Most popular Megos.
She's my All-time Favorite.
My Grandpappy Ed gave me one of these for my tenth birthday, which was an odd choice, considering the kind of guy he was. But when my birthday rolled around twelve years later this was the toy I simply HAD to replace. Flat out favorite toy I have, bar none. Just look at it. It's the cutest, perkiest, sexiest representation of Batgirl ever! Not that there have been a lot. Actually, aside from the 1967 Ideal Batgirl (AKA "The Holy Grail") this was the only one until the recent BTAS and movie Batgirls which have proven to be huge disappointments. So for my money, this remains the real deal. Shockingly red hair, this incredibly cool Bat Helmet, canary yellow high heels, the utility belt with giant batbuckle and attached BATPURSE, the painfully small waistline and super cute little face....well, I don't have to tell YOU. Just get one. I mean it. It'll change your life.

On the left , Painted-suit Batgirl. The earliest version of the figure, she did come with gloves, but is pictured without them to illustrate the sleeves. The painted suits (or silk screened supergals) were made this way so they could be rushed to the marketplace for Christmas (Mego couldn't wait for tooling!) Didn't come with boots. I must say, and this is not a phrase I use often, but in this place it's just so true: The yellow on the painted suit? Like Butter....Rich, creamery butter.
To the right, the last edition (straight arm) Batgirl.

Batgirl came boxed and carded.

Batgirl scans courtesy of Tom, beautiful packaging!

Red Card Batgirl shown above, red cards are believed to late releases and are quite desirable.
This odd and cool Logo overlays the Batgirl name on boxes and Kresge cards. It didn't appear on later packages, who knows why...
Lastly,
as we learned from the Mexican
Mr. Mxyzptlk, the Batgirl clip art was different on the Lili-Ledy boxes.
She is the only character so distinguished.

Here is Lili Ledy Batgirl (Batchica) in all of her glory, a boxed example has not surfaced.
Figure Notes: Original Version came in the Screen Printed suit (no boots). Batgirl's are sometimes found with no-jointed arms (essentially the type 2 female bodies). A fair number of carded 1979 Batgirls are around, making this a common "rare and expensive figure. These 1979 models are susceptible to facial graying and non-jointed arms. Batgirl's are susceptible to facial graying. Seems like more of the late issues were saved? Beware. My own C-10 carded version is slowly going pale on me. Note too, that the insignia on all Batgirls is a thin and stiff fabric material, not a slick sticker. Lastly, below is what her belt/purse looks like:
The Superagls wave was released in their own store counter display box, very few survived. To learn more about Mego Store displays click on the above pic.
