Customizer Gallery - Laurie Halbritter

Customizing can be as hard or easy as ya like. Sometimes I like to really suffer and labor over one for years. In fact, I have piles of heads I've been picking at for five or six years. I have several dozen heads on bodies, sitting in boxes because I am not so keen on sewing.
I can sew however. Here's a little sew job I did on Mr. Hyde (made from a modified Aurora head):
And I sewed Closet Monsters pjs:
If I can beg, borrow or steal clothes, I am happy with that too. After all, this is a hobby. Don't have to be anal about EVERYTHING.
In this instance, for this custom, I chose to use no clothes at all. I highly recommend easy customs like this Dr. Phil motorcycle ride one:
Brian Leitner makes great Superhero suits. While I do sew some of my own, sometimes it's just easier (and nicer) to have Brian do the suit part. If I sewed everything, I wouldn't have nearly as many customs ;-)
Here's a few Marvel / Shazam characters with Leitner suits.

There is a certain satisfaction to making your own clothes though. This Metamorpho outfit, while I like it, was the most painful sewing experience I've had. Most of it was machine sewn.

Mary Jane (sometimes girlfriend of Spiderman) was made of sewn and stolen parts. I love her chunky shoes. They counter balance her other virtues. The torso was made by Don C.

I find myself wishing there were more girl custom figures out there so when I found wigs and fishnets, I was in seventh heaven. Much as I like to do known characters, it's sometimes fun to just make up my own... Introducing, Butt-Plug Girl from Uranus and some of my "Blonds Have More Fun" gals:

Painting and sculpting are definately my favorite parts to customizing. As a kid, I didn't customize but I did assemble and paint horror kits. In fact, I still like to do that only now I do superdeformed kits
Sometimes I like to really go to town on a paintjob on customs too, and other times I like to just keep it plain like Mego
Sometimes I sculpt from scratch (especially on the horror stuff) and other times, I get heads from other people or modify existing heads and cast them
