Planet of the Apes

Taylor has a resin head made by Phil Nobile. His uniform is deliberately inaccurate because it was made for a customer who specified that it be done this way. I will make an accurate uniform someday.

This version of Mi Zaius is based on the description of him in Pierre Boulle's original novel.

Julius is one of my favourite characters from Planet of the Apes. The fur for his hairy arms is from a Beanie Baby.

Brent has another Phil Nobile head. Brent has a Type 1 body so it'll be noticably smaller than Taylor's Type 2 body when they're displayed together.

Caesar, like the other Conquest apes, is wearing an outfit sewn by my wife, Cathy. The "faded" zippers and fur cuffs are Mego-like details that I really like.

The gorilla from Conquest has an original Soldier Ape head with his face repainted black. A simple custom, but effective.

An orangutan from Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. The fur sticking out of his sleeves was taken from a Cowardly Lion.

MacDonald is Terry from The Rookies in a Dr. Mego black suit and an AJ black turtleneck. Another simple one that works.

Caesar's nemisis, Aldo, from Battle for the Planet of the Apes. More Mego parts mixed, matched, and repainted.

Kolp is another of my favourites. A Type 2 tall fat body and a Rainfall Moses head shouldn't look this good.

Colonel Alan Virdon, ANSA Astronaut. Original vest, custom shirt, and pants from the parts box.

Major Peter J. Burke, ANSA Astronaut. AJ's Navy shirt, and a vest cut from an AJ karate gi.

Urko uses more repainted original parts. This was my first serious custom. I cut this belt and repainted this head more than twenty years ago.
Science Fiction Characters

This is a generic albino pseudo-vampire from The Omega Man. His head was once a greying Burke with most of the paint rubbed off. I think this is better.

Boba Fett has a helmet made from a Pez dispenser. His armour comes from a cheap blow-molded knockoff and his jumpsuit is from the AJ Air Force outfit.

Kane from Alien has a Hutch head with the hair repainted brown and he's wearing clothes from a Johnny Muscle figure from Australia. The facehugger alien is from one of the 6" Kenner figures.

The Terminator's outfit was the first (and only) outfit I designed and sewed completely without help. The Bruce Wayne head is only temporary.

Kor from Star Trek has a resin head sculpted by James Brady (Captain Dunsel). The pants are from the Black Knight, and his tunic was painted. James Brady also made the gold sash.

George Francisco from Alien Nation has a resin Mr. Fantastic head modified with epoxy putty. He's wearing a black Dr. Mego suit.
Other Movie and TV Characters

Bond. James Bond. This head was modified from the re-issued Aurora model kit head. I added the neck and resculpted the face around the eyes. The tuxedo is from CTVT, and the shirt is from a Daddy Warbucks figure.

This is Lt. Craig Garrison from Garrison's Gorillas. I've never seen the show, but I figured it was an easy custom to make since it starred Ron Harper (Virdon on Planet of the Apes). I repainted Virdon's hair brown and put him in an AJ Army outfit. The flak jacket is from a knockoff figure.

Uncle Jesse was another one I did because it was easy. He has a repainted Blackbeard head (yes, a REAL one), Grandpa Walton overalls, and an AJ shirt.

Jason from Friday the 13th was also an easy one. Sculpey mask over a Superman head that I disfigured as a child, and an AJ jumpsuit.
Comic Book Heroes

I repainted the head on a stock Mego Captain America and gave him new white sleeves and red gauntlets. The boots are from CTVT.

The Punisher has yet another modified resin Mr. Fantastic head. His suit was sewn by my wife and I painted the emblem myself. The boots are from CTVT.

The Phantom has an original Mego Cheron head that I repainted. My wife, Cathy, sewed his outfit. I never could match the colour of the fabric with the acrylic paint, so I consider this one unfinished.

Mr. Tawky Tawny was my first award-winning custom. I'm very proud of this one. My wife sewed the suit from a pattern that I made.

Captain Atom. This is the only completed custom I made specifically to sell. I want to make another one to keep.

Doc Savage, the Man of Bronze, has been at the top of my most wanted customs list since I was a kid. He has a vinyl Thor head with hair made from epoxy putty. His shirt is from AJ's safari outfit. I need to make better pants and replace his boots.

Monk is probably Doc Savage's most popular associate. His body is assembled from parts that were never intended to go together, and he has a repainted Hulk head.
The Circus

The Ringmaster began as Ivanhoe. He's wearing a Brenda Breyer outfit and a Wizard of Oz hat.

Papillon, the high wire performer, is a Dinah-mite wearing a custom bodysuit and Green Arrow boots. She has male Our Gang hands and standard male Type 2 legs.

Albert, the Alligator Man, is a Hulk body and Lizard head. He's wearing Star Trek crewman pants and a Big Jim vest.

Merv, the Giant Green Gorilla, is a 12" Hulk body with a Sculpey head. The loincloth is from a mutilated Beanie Baby.

Pyro, the clown, is a Wizard of Oz in assorted clothes from the parts bin. His shoes are from a craft store.

Baby O, another clown, is a Catwoman wearing a modified Shazam suit and a Darla dress.

Marty, the carny worker, began as an attempt to make a John Goodman head by combining Boss Hogg's head with Ponch's hair. I thought the result more closely resembled Marty Abrams. Apparently, all carny workers wear Davy Crockett pants and Menudo boots.

Plum, another carny, has a repainted Joker head. He's named for P.G. Wodehouse, the author of the Jeeves and Wooster novels and stories. Wodehouse's full name was Pelham Grenville Wodehouse, and his nickname was Plum.
Thank you for looking at my custom figures. I hope you've gotten some pleasure from them. Feedback of any kind is always welcome.
