I'm bored at work and have a copy of WGT on my desk, so....

Blindly flipping to Page 108:

Aw, yeah (as Art would say) Wonder Woman! I'm so glad the Austrailian Wonder Woman made it into the book. Thanks to John Bonavita, I think, who photographed it before selling it. Interesting edge wear on the back. I love this thing.

The Kresge Wonder Woman cards are gorgeous on the page. I love seeing the different poses the figures have when placed in the bubble. Those are some NICE cards, by the way. Preprinted price stickers...one is 2.68 and then it goes up to 2.96. Ben, both say 8-3 on them, what's that about? That doesn't mean they were made at the same time, because they can't be. Is that spelled out in the book elsewhere?

The next page is the Supergirl splash page. Stunning detail in the texture as usual, especially neat on her emblem. One thing I've never heard comment on is the choice to photograph them with their hair bands in place. It wouldn't have occurred to me to do that. It emphasizes their minty purity, so I can see why you did it. That's a tough call.

I got (no lie) Page 110/111 which is Supergirl. Although Wonder Woman, Catwoman, & Batgirl are cool, Supergirl is my favorite Mego Super-Gal. I really like her costume. Red/Blue is such a nice combo. It's a great color scheme.

Supergirl (the Mego) is a great looking toy. Her eyes are a great blue color. I really do like the Supergirl shoes. I love the way they look in the large "flying" image on page 111. I noticed on the bottom of the page, (in the series of images that make up the 360 degree view) that the 2 middle images on page 111 seem to be the same. But even if they are, it doesn't detract from the greatness of this book one bit.

I really like the belt on the screen printed Supergirl. I love the way it's designed.

It's been fun participating in this thread. I haven't looked through my copy of the book in a long time. I am continually amazed at the beautiful & detailed images and the in-depth information. The material lends itself to great images and this book is amazing. I'm falling in love with it all over again.

Not to speak for anyone, MegoScott, but the book states on page 103 that the 8-3 reflects a date code which is for Kresge's original purchase order. (for the Mxy figure at least) I'm glad I found that out. I've always wondered about those numbers on other toys back in the 70's.

Pg. 194-195. It's Thor, which brings back one of my best Mego memories. We went into an Uncle Bill's store and found pretty much every Mego that we had never seen before. My mom let us gte one each. I picked out Thor, who I never saw again. My brother got Aquaman.

Awww, thanks for posting a little about the book, guys. It's so 'yesterday's news,' but I love hearing that people still dig it out once in a while and dive in!

It's funny, Doc: The book is FILLED with mistakes (), but overall, I think it's pretty good. I would love to correct all the mistakes, but I think Mego-heads can identify and correct any errors without my chiming in.

Scott, the hairband issue is a good question, and it's something Rob (Rchatlin) and I discussed several times. I think my decision came down to this: I wanted the book to capture that immediate, visceral love and adoration we had as kids holding a brand-new, minty-fresh Mego... I wanted to put the reader back in time, so to speak. The hairbands are not necessary to most collectors, but they were part of the original package for rooted-hair Mego figures.

Not sure if that makes sense or not, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

I carry my own copy of the book around with me, and I still love opening it up to random pages and re-reading... it doesn't feel like I had anything to do with its creation, though. Strangely, it always feels 'new' to me when I start reading or looking at pictures.

Just to let you know, Imp, I wasn't trying to point out a "mistake", it's just what I noticed when I checked out the page. You state that you think the book is "pretty good". I think it's freakin' awesome. I was so jazzed when I found out my local bookstore could order it, and I ordered it right away. One of these days when I make it to my first MegoMeet, I want to get everyone there to sign my copy like a yearbook. It'll be the coolest thing ever.

I know I'll never have a complete mint set of WGSH figures, but since I have your book, I'm okay with that. It's the next best thing. Megos forever preserved in all their glory in beautiful images that still blow me away every time I look at them.

I'm waiting for the announcement of the sequel.

The Batman vehicles are some of my favorite toy's, besides the Jungle House of course.

I was wondering, are thier any plans of reprinting WGT in a smaller soft cover TPB type book?

Pages 132 and 133... Riddler. Growing up in Mexico I knew this guy by the name of El Acertijo, those shots are great and love the Lili Ledy version. Great work Ben!!!

Page 62. Kresge carded Superman. Yes, please!

Again with the codes on the Kresge stickers. 4-01-27 means Toy Dept (4) dolls and figures (01) Superman is 27, Batman 28, etc. I love how you figured that out.

I like those pages too. At the bottom it looks like he's dancing. It's like he's saying "Batman is too slow to catch me,so I'm going to get down and get funky."
