Mein liebster Feind (My Best Friend) 1999 7/10

Werner Herzog's documentary about his weird relationship with actor Klaus Kinski, who was a lunatic.

            Underwater

This monster movie doesn’t waste any time getting to it. Don’t expect 40 minutes of Irwin Allen-esque character establishment or anything. That can wait. The setting and creatures are very well done. It does a good job placing you 7 miles under water. As good as the effects and sets are, the more important story is just OK. The lack of character development keeps you from really caring about the people. The message of the film is barely brushed against and there are very few twists or surprises along the way. - C+

              Phantasm (1979)

              What a horribly bad movie

Never seen a movie that wasted so much time showing people walk and walk and walk … Just because people walk doesn't mean you need to show us every party of their entire journey.

Story was convoluted as bad as they come …. kept waiting for baddies to say, "dink, dink --- dink - dink!!-- dink, dink !!"

I give it 0 stars .. for wasting my time

                Midsomer- 7/10
Well made and certainly interesting horror but I've seen this before. Doesn't hold back on the gore.

                The Lighthouse- 8/10
Moody thriller, I didn't know what to expect and that was refreshing. Pattison and Dafoe are great in this.

                  1917- 8/10
Very well shot, good suspense, some of the effects were a little too CGI I felt, but I'm not sure how they would have done them otherwise. The coolest thing is the how it's all presented as one single unbroken shot. No fade to black, no changing to a different scene etc, you follow these two soldiers the entire time.

^I am looking forward to catching "1917" this weekend. It looks like a pretty tense story that is going to be fun to look at. The real time, unbroken shot presentation is intriguing.

The Color out of Space (2020): 8/10
Richard Stanley hasn't directed a movie in 20 years and that's a shame seeing how he handled this HP Lovecraft adaptation. It really works, even Nick Cage's over the top nature is somehow channeled into making sense. This story has been adapted 3 times, this is the definitive version IMO.

Never heard of it until it popped up on tubi … A zombie movie starring the Governater ? … ooooo k

Gave it a shot but I fell asleep half way through (very slow moving) …. I might try watching it again but i'd have to be really bored

BTW, the young girl from Zombieland played Arnold's daughter

                            John Rambo (2019).

Unfortunately, it’s very forgettable. Also, when you watch the film, it’s like begins, goes on for a bit and then just ends. At least, that’s what it felt like to me. There’s no character development past what you may already know about Rambo. He’s the only familiar character. The other characters aren’t developed at all.

I cannot recall the specific name of the previous Rambo film, but, in my opinion, it was a much better film...and it was far from great.
