The Fate of Our Heroes After Avengers 4?

I think we've all seen Infinity War by now, so I thought it might be cool to discuss what we think will happen to our favorite characters...or what we'd "like" to see happen going forward into Phase 4. Some things we know will happen and characters will survive because they still have movies coming up(Spiderman, G.O.T.G., or Doctor Strange 2)...or because of what the Actors have stated publicly. Chris Hemsworth has said he's still interested in playing Thor, so He'll probably return. For me the biggest delima and bummer is both Chris Evans & Robert Downey Jr. have said Avengers 4 is their last movie. So...here are some of my thoughts and wishes.


Captain America: I feel the best way to handle replacing Cap is to continue following the Winter Soldier storyline and have Bucky step in for Steve. They've already started his path to redemption and they should keep it going. But don't kill cap! Instead, have Thanos send him tumbling back it time just like in the comics except...Thanos is the reason, instead of a brainwashed Sharon Carter shooting him with a "magic" time bullet. It's too soon to recast Chris Evans, it would be to jarring at this point. But sending Steve into the past, gives us time to get over it...plus it stays pretty faithful to the original story. What do you think?


Ironman: Ok, my next idea will probably be a bit more controversial, as was the original Ironman story I got it from. Anybody remember the Ironman story where the Avengers went into the past and brought back a teenage Tony Stark? Well, I think this is a decent solution because like Evans...R.D.J. is practically irreplaceable. But by casting a teen Actor...they don't have to try and find an adult Actor to replace him. Again...I think it would be less jarring.

Yes, Rhody was my other thought...I believe he was Iron man for a little while during the "Demon in a bottle" storyline .

I don't see how the teen girl Iron Man idea is any worse than the teen boy iron man. Both equally bad. IF they want more youth in the MCU, they've got a whole pile coming with the XMen.

It's so weird to be at this point, already. It seems like no time at all (but it had to be about 12 years ago) that I was reading a magazine article about Jon Favreau getting "Iron Man" to direct and then RDJ coming aboard. I was still in my 30s and now I am 50. I was so excited about it all back then and now, I have to admit, I feel like I hit a wall. I've missed seeing the last 4 Marvel movies in the theater (not because I think they lack quality) and I would not have guessed in the beginning that I was capable of being "worn out by it all". That's a nice "problem" to have, by the way. Just seems impossible that a kid that grew up (like almost all of you) starving for a good superhero movie would push away from "the trough".

Who will be the next Avenger?

From what I have been able to gather after Avengers 4 there will be a New Avengers team (again). So out of the characters that have shown up in the past 10 years who do you think will be part of the new team. I cut most of the original members because the contracts are up or they have said they do not want to come back. I also cut most of the tv show members due to the fact that they are doing there own groups. The rest of the characters would make a great team.

I suppose they already recast Banner and Rhodey...so it is not without precedent... but in a shared universe like this, I think it would be a mistake to recast a Tony Stark or a Steve Rogers. Better to pass the torch to another incarnation of the character or just let other Marvel characters step forward to fill the void. You still have Bucky Cap and Falcon Cap as easy replacements. Moving from RDJ to Don Cheadle may be less practical (he is not a young man himself)... but do you really need an Iron Man? With Banner and Shuri and Hank Pym and others, they probably have enough genius inventors. They certainly have enough wisecrackers. Maybe you just leave Iron Man out of it for a while.
