    Dash Wing

This was a pet project of mine that I've wanted to do every since I started playing with transparent acrylic. Making a reproduction of the 1:18 scale Mego Micronauts Space Glider's Dash Wing in 1:9 scale. Why? Because it was calling to me! Space Glider was my favorite figure as a kid. There was something magical about the heavy metal figure that had light, attachable, transparent wing. The multiple transparent colors of the Micronauts were so mesmerizing.

So, Saturday night I took apart the original wings, scanned the individual pieces, and worked until early morning, faithfully reproducing all the details.

Later, I cut out the pieces and put them together. It felt just like a larger version of the original. The wings are articulate to be spread out of fold down. Unlike the smaller counterpart, there is no quick release spring. However, the wing have an internal stop just like the smaller ones so they can't be overextended. Anyone who has held the original Dash Wing will get the same feeling moving these wings up and down.

Now I just need to make a custom Mego Space Glider figure to go with them instead of using a Romulan!

See the LaserMego Dash Wing page for more pictures and information.

Wow. That is freakin' awesome. I am so impressed.

That really inspires me to make a custom of my Space Glider.

Now for the spring action bit and you'll not only have a work of art, you'll have perfection.

Now THAT takes some serious freakin' talent. Well done! What an amazingly accurate reproduction upscaled for the 8 inch line. You are to be commended!
            Incredible...

There isn't a smiley to represent being gobsmacked on this forum, but if there were, I'd have at least five of them to go along with this post.

I never even heard of Space Glider, and I am in awe of these wings!

Man, excellent work. Absolutely professional looking.
