Blast from the past! I was rarely allowed to eat those. Not Swanson's, or Libbyland, my mom just didn't like them. Sometimes I ate them at a friend's house. The only time mom would let me buy these was when we were moving from NYC to CA and all the dishes were packed. Anyway, here's a classic Hungry Man ad:
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true." -
The recently discontinued Hungry Man XXL dinners were awesome. However, the calorie count was right around 2000 for one meal. My favorite was the bbq rib/bbq chicken meal with mashed potatoes and corn. I vaguely remember having tv dinners as a child. Didn't they used to have some sort of chocolate brownie included in the middle top tray slot?I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.Comment

^Did you pick up a pound or two? How about Al Purnell and Old Folks sausage?
We had TV dinners from time to time. I always liked the turkey and salisbury steak. Seems like it was usually a brownie or cheery cobbler in the middle. Corn always got over into the deserts.
We ate more pot pies for lunch when home on breaks. I seem to recall thinking Swansons' were superior to Banquet's.

I've been craving an old Swanson meatloaf dinner with the red sauce for a while. It would appear that Swanson in Canada is different than in the US, and the Canadian market has access to a larger variety of frozen goodness than the US market. I haven't found anyone who ships them yet, but I'm still looking.Comment

Tell me about it! That was why my mom didn't like TV dinners, they were too expensive. But she loved the Banquet Boil-in-bag meals, though. 1) They were cheaper, and 2) you could stretch them w/ rice or potatoes, since all they were was meat and gravy or chicken ala king.

I don't remember that one, the Beef Tamales or the Chicken Chow Mein. I think I ate every other Oven TV dinner they made when I was a kid. To this day, I still remember the taste of their chicken's crispy/greasy skin. You are transparent; I see many things... I see plans within plans.Comment
