    Action Jackson 2014

The folks behind the 8-inch Super Store (ZICA and Castaway Toys) had a Kickstarter to produce a more modern take on Mego's 40 year old Action Jackson. Unfortunately, the deal fell through before they could deliver, but they still have all the parts available to make your own, so here is my version!

    Action Jackson 2014:

You can get all of the parts from the 8-inch Super Store
I used a white pouch belt from Classic TV Toys as I like the look of it better, but if you want to be a purist, the Super Store also has a white belt:
I then added my own stickers:

I admit, I went a little overboard with 4 differ sized "AJ" on his suit, but its got the retro feel of plastering the character's logo all over the toy.

Overall, I really like this figure. It feel very solid with the Type-S body and detailed head. The new combat boots are great with plenty of detail and real treads. Its a shame the 8-inch Super Store isn't continuing the line, but they make it easy and fun to put your own together with high quality parts!

These are cool, but in every pic I've seen the faces are super shiny. Are they soft vinyl, or something else?

He looks awesome. I bought most of the parts to make my own. The company did a great job matching the head colour to the body. Be careful heating the new heads as the post is actually a separate part and can be pushed too far into the head (pulled out no problem). I'm sure there are other reasons behind the decision to refund the AJ Kickstarter, but IMHO the heads were fine and it's a shame I couldn't get the 4 retro AJ figures packaged.

They aren't super soft. I couldn't get the neck into the S body without taking the screws out, so I would say they are firm. The shine doesn't seem to be uniform across the face (one of mine has a shiny chin and nose but that is it on the face), but it doesn't bother me at all. I'm sure a light coat of clear matte paint would resolve the issue if it really bothered anyone.

The heads are injection molded in a rigid PVC, not soft rotocast vinyl. They were specifically designed to be used with the Type S body since the torso can be disassembled.

Nice job on AJ by the way.

I've said this before. This is a cool looking figure but I don't see AJ.
