We always have a fake tree, the fake needles are healthier for the cats I guess. If I get everything out today it should be up tomorrow . When does your tree go up, and is it fake or real ?

It's a family tradition to go out and cut a real Cedar tree. My kids, my dad, and my sister are planning on going next Saturday. That's a bit early, as they can dry out if you're not careful, but my sister has a VERY high ceiling and gets a tree that would make Central Park envious. So she wants plenty of time to decorate it!
The rest of the decorations start going up today. It's Clark Griswold day!

It's a pretty convincing fake tree, and should be up next week.
And every year, we vow to send our cards early, and end up sending them in January. Ahum.....

I've always gotten a real tree. I will probably buy it the Sunday before Christmas, but it won't get decorated until Christmas Eve. It's a tradition that was born b/c my dad was a cheapskate! In NYC back in the day, tree sellers wanted to go home and would let a beautiful 6-footer go for just a couple of bucks. So even now, it just seems wrong to decorate it any sooner."Do you believe, you believe in magic?

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

Fake but, that is a mandate of my apartment lease. We discovered that we need new light strings this morning so, we will wait until tomorrow to go get new ones and the goal is to get the tree up before the weekend ends.Comment

I put up a small fake tree every year. Not to much to decorate and it comes down quickly. I put it up last weekend.Comment

I am mid-way through decorating our main tree, which is an artificial tree in the living room. Then I do another, smaller tree up in the dormer window. Lastly, both our bedroom and the library get vintage aluminum trees, decorated only with red and teal balls, just like my great grandmother decorated her aluminum tree every year.sigpicComment

Fake tree. My wife and daughter put it up already earlier on today. This year, the missus wanted to decorate with white lights and coordinated ornaments instead of all the sentimental ones we've had over the years. To be honest, I don't really care how she does it. It looks nice enough right now, but feels kind of "sterile." Dunno, it just doesn't match our personality. We're not a matchy-matchy kind of family, so this seems off this year.Comment
