I think that I would go with fabric paint. I have not used acrylic on cloth before though.

        What color are you needing?
I saw fabric markers at Joann Fabrics.

I don't know if you have a Joann's by you, but I'm sure you can get some of these elsewhere.
There's bigger markers and skinnier ones.

I have painted several suits with liquitex acrylic paint. it covers very well but it does slightly stiffen the fabric, which, in the case of my Shang Chi, really added a nice effect.
I also have used airbrush paint, which is also an acrylic, but didn't stiffen the fabric.

found some fabric pens on ebay i might give those a try it's for a tigra suit so would have to have narrow nibs.thanks for the joann link i'm in england so postage wise i will probably be better on ebay.

                  Ha! Definitely!

                  Hey daz71!
I didn't know you were asking about this, so you can do a Tigra. I would think fabric paint would still be okay. They are just small nibs, as you say.
I painted these stripes on a Wolverine that I am working on:
                  w1.jpgw2.jpg
I drew the stripes with a skinny Sharpie permanent marker, then painted over the lines with fabric paint.

I have used both paints. I think the only difference is the fabric paint is machine washable but acrylic will work for a custom suit.

i tried both .the acrylic seems nicer and there seems to be more choice in colours in acrylic.

To reduce the stiffening, you can thin either paint with a little bit of water.
